EDD: How to fix incorrect return-to-work date on unemployment claim?
Hey everyone, I'm still waiting on a call back from the unemployment office. It's been hours and I'm getting anxious. I have some questions about my claim, specifically about an incorrect return-to-work date. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on what specific questions I should ask when I finally get through?

Ugh, been there done that. The wait times are ridiculous! š When you do get through, make sure to ask about how to correct the return-to-work date and what documentation they might need. Also, find out if this affects your benefit amount or duration. Good luck!

ā¢Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely ask about the documentation needed. Do you know if they can make the correction over the phone or if I'll need to submit something in writing?

ā¢In my experience, they usually can make simple corrections over the phone. But its always good to follow up with an email or message through your online account just to have a paper trail. Better safe than sorry!

ā¢Pro tip: take notes during the call! I forgot half of what they told me last time and had to call back. š¤¦āāļø

I found a way to get someone on the phone without waiting for hours. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

ā¢Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

ā¢I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imho.

ā¢Idk man, seems kinda sketchy. Why should we have to pay to talk to a government agency?

ā¢I get where you're coming from, but for me, time is money. I'd rather pay $20 than waste a whole day trying to get through. To each their own tho!

The whole system is broken af. I've been trying to fix an issue with my claim for MONTHS. It's like they don't want us to get our benefits. š¤¬

ā¢Have you tried contacting your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through.

Here's what you need to know about correcting your return-to-work date: ⢠First, gather any documentation that proves the correct date (emails, offer letters, etc.) ⢠When you get through, explain the situation calmly and clearly ⢠Ask if they can make the correction immediately or if you need to submit a formal request ⢠If they can't fix it on the spot, ask for specific instructions on how to submit the correction ⢠Get the name and ID number of the rep you speak with ⢠Follow up with a message through your online account summarizing the call ⢠If they say they'll make the change, ask when it will be reflected in your account ⢠Find out if this affects your past or future payments Remember, stay patient and persistent. It might take a few tries, but you'll get it sorted out!

ā¢This should be pinned or something. Great info!

ā¢This is exactly what I needed! Quick question though - when you say "get the name and ID number of the rep," do you mean their employee ID? And should I ask for a reference number for the call itself?

Has anyone had success using the online messaging system instead of calling? I'm wondering if that might be faster.

ā¢I tried that. Took them 3 weeks to respond and they just told me to call anyway. š

ā¢It worked for me! But I think it depends on what kind of issue you have. Simple stuff seems to be okay online.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last week!

Anyone else notice that the hold music is like... weirdly catchy? I caught myself humming it at the grocery store the other day š

I just went through this exact same situation last month! The incorrect return-to-work date was driving me crazy because it was affecting my benefit calculation. When I finally got through (after what felt like forever), the rep was actually really helpful. They were able to fix it right over the phone once I provided my correct start date and explained the situation. The key is having any documentation ready - I had my job offer email saved on my phone which made it super easy. The change showed up in my account within 2 business days. Hang in there, you'll get through eventually!
