NYDOL: Trouble finishing unemployment claim, can't get through on phone. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble finishing my unemployment claim. I thought I was done but now they're saying I need to call back. Has anyone else dealt with this? It's so frustrating trying to get through on the phone.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I've been trying to get through for weeks. The phone lines are always busy and when I do get through, I'm on hold forever only to get disconnected. It's like they don't want us to actually get our benefits 🙄

•Same here! I've tried calling at different times of the day, but no luck. It's so frustrating 😤

•Have you tried calling right when they open? I heard that's the best time to get through.

•Yeah, I've tried that too. Still no luck. It's like playing the lottery at this point 🎰

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•Is it really worth $20 tho? Seems kinda steep for something that should be free.

•I get the skepticism, but for me it was worth it. I was losing my mind trying to get through. The $20 saved me hours of frustration and potentially missing out on benefits.

•How long did you have to wait once you used the service?

•It took about 2 hours total, but I didn't have to actively wait on hold. The service called me when an agent was on the line.

Has anyone tried reaching out to their local representative? I've heard some people have had success going that route.

I swear the unemployment system is designed to be as confusing and frustrating as possible. It's like they're hoping we'll just give up and go away 🤡

•Conspiracy theory: maybe that's exactly what they want 👀

Here's what worked for me to finish my claim: 1. Gather all your documents beforehand (pay stubs, W-2, etc.) 2. Try calling early in the morning, like 7:55 AM, and be ready to hit redial 3. If you get through, write down the name of who you talk to 4. Be super polite but firm about needing help 5. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor 6. Keep a log of all your calls and attempts It took me a few tries, but I finally got it sorted. Don't give up!

Anyone know if there's been any changes to the unemployment system recently? I swear it wasn't this bad when I claimed a few years ago.

•I heard they updated their computer system last month. Probably made things worse knowing how government tech usually goes 🙄

Pro tip: if you're having trouble with the online system, try using a different browser or clearing your cache. Sometimes that helps with glitches.

Has anyone tried contacting them through social media? Sometimes companies are more responsive there because it's public.

•Good idea! I'll try tweeting at them. Maybe public shaming will work lol
