NYDOL: Need help backtracking claim & manual verification due to phone issues - call center closing soon!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. I need to backtrack my claim and get manually verified because of some phone issues I've been having. Has anyone else dealt with this? The call center is closing soon and I'm worried about getting this sorted out. Any advice would be appreciated!

Ugh, I feel your pain. I had to backtrack my claim last month and it was a nightmare. Have you tried calling first thing in the morning? That's when I finally got through.

•Thanks for the tip! I'll definitely try calling early tomorrow. How long did the whole process take for you?

•It took about a week for everything to get sorted out. Just keep calling and don't give up! Good luck 🍀

•A week? You're lucky! I've been trying to get through for over a month now. This system is so broken 😤

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video explaining it: https://youtu.be/fU4YuziZLxI

•Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•$20? That's ridiculous. The system should work without us having to pay extra.

•I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta spend money to make money, ya know? 🤷♂️

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down all your call attempts, dates, and times. 2. Try calling right when they open. Be ready to dial at 7:59 AM. 3. If you can't get through, try their online portal. Sometimes you can request a callback there. 4. If all else fails, reach out to your local state representative. They often have direct lines to DOL. 5. Be persistent! Don't give up. Remember, the system is overloaded right now. It's frustrating, but keep at it. Good luck!

•This is great advice. I'd add: if you do get through, be super nice to the rep. They're dealing with a lot too.

Hey, quick question - when did you first file your claim? That might affect how you need to approach this.

•I filed about 3 weeks ago. Does that change things?

•Ah, gotcha. Yeah, for newer claims they sometimes have a different process. Might be worth checking their website for any special instructions for recent filers.

Pro tip: if you're having phone issues, try using a friend's phone to call. Sometimes their system flags certain numbers and it's harder to get through.
