TWC denied my unemployment claim, keeps telling me to call after new application. Help!
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. They denied my last request and keep telling me I have to call after filling out a new application. Has anyone else dealt with this? Any advice on how to get through to them or what documents I might need?

Ugh, I'm in the same boat. It's so frustrating! Have you tried gathering any evidence about your commute or transportation? That might help if they're questioning your ability to work.

•Thanks for the tip! I hadn't thought about that. What kind of evidence do you think would work best?

•Maybe bus schedules, uber receipts, or even a letter from someone who can give you rides? Anything that shows you can reliably get to work should help your case.

•Good suggestions! I'd also add gas receipts if you have a car, or even a statement from a potential employer saying they're ok with your commute situation.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/V-IMvH88P1U

•Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

•I was skeptical too, but I tried it and it actually worked! Saved me hours of hold time.

•How long did it take for them to call you back?

•It took about 2 hours for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than trying to call yourself all day!

Here's what I did to finally get my claim approved: 1. Gather all your employment documents (pay stubs, W2, etc.) 2. Write a detailed letter explaining your situation 3. Get any supporting documents for your ability to work (transportation evidence as others mentioned) 4. Submit everything through the online portal AND mail physical copies 5. Follow up every few days via phone or email It's a pain, but persistence is key. Don't give up!

•I second this. I wasted weeks on the phone, then got everything sorted in one day by going in person.

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 20 minutes on hold last week!

•What time do they open? Asking for a friend 👀

Anyone else notice that the unemployment website is always "under maintenance" when you need it most? 🙄

Heads up, there's a new policy change coming next month that might affect your claim. Make sure to check the official website for updates!

•Oh no, I hadn't heard about this. Do you have any more details?

•They're changing some eligibility requirements. I'd link the info but automod might remove it. Just google "[state] unemployment policy changes 2023" and you should find it.
