EDD claim still pending after submitting proof - what else do they need?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment claim. It's still pending and I'm not sure why. I submitted a document they asked for as proof, but I haven't heard anything back. I haven't gotten any mail or updates about my claim. Has anyone else dealt with this? What other info might they need to process my claim? I'm getting worried and could use some advice.

Have you checked your online account? Sometimes they post updates or requests for additional docs there without sending anything in the mail.

β’I did check my online account, but there's nothing new there either. It's like my claim is just sitting in limbo π

β’Ugh, classic EDD. They love to keep us in the dark. Maybe try calling them? Fair warning tho, it's gonna be a pain in the a**

β’I second this. The online portal isn't always reliable. I had a similar issue and found out they needed more info only after calling.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

β’Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 just to make a phone call?

β’I get the skepticism, but yeah, it's legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Sometimes you gotta pay to play with these government agencies π€·ββοΈ

β’How long did it take for them to get you connected to an agent?

β’It took about 45 minutes, but I didn't have to do anything. Just got a call when they had an agent on the line. Way better than spending all day hitting redial.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check your online account for any messages or requests. 2. Make sure all your personal info is up to date in the system. 3. If you submitted proof, call and confirm they received it. 4. Ask if there's any additional info they need. 5. Request a status update and ask for a timeline. 6. If they can't help, ask to speak with a tier 2 specialist. 7. Keep a record of all your calls and who you spoke with. 8. Follow up weekly if you don't hear back. Stay persistent! The system is overwhelmed, but squeaky wheel gets the grease. Good luck!

β’This is solid advice. I'd add: if you can, try calling right when they open. Sometimes you can catch them before the lines get jammed.

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD.

β’This! My claim was stuck for weeks until I contacted my assemblyman's office. They got it sorted in days.

β’I hadn't even thought of that. How do I find out who my local rep is?

β’Just google '[your city] state representative' and it should pop up. Most have forms on their websites for constituent services.

Ugh, I feel you. I'm in the same boat. Been pending for weeks now. This whole system is a joke. Anyone else think they're doing this on purpose to save money? π€

Pro tip: if you call, have ALL your info ready. Claim number, exact dates, any correspondence you've had. The more prepared you are, the smoother it'll go.

Anyone else notice that the EDD website is always "down for maintenance" when you actually need to use it? π

β’omg yes! It's like they know exactly when I'm gonna log in and shut it down just to mess with me π

Hey OP, what kind of proof did they ask for? Sometimes they need really specific documents and if it's not exactly what they want, they just let it sit there without telling you.

β’They asked for proof of employment. I sent in my last few pay stubs, but maybe that wasn't enough?

β’Might not be. They sometimes want a letter from your employer or your W2. Def worth calling to check if what you sent meets their requirements.
