EDD never sent my unemployment check - what can I do?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment check. I filed my claim a while back but still haven't received anything. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next? I'm getting worried about bills piling up.

Ugh, I feel you. I was in the same boat last month. Have you tried calling EDD? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

Check your EDD account online. Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional info that can hold up your claim. Also, make sure all your certifications are up to date.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical too, but I was desperate and it actually worked. Got through to an agent in about an hour.

•I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get some answers. Beats wasting hours trying to call myself.

Have you checked with your bank? Sometimes the issue is on their end, not EDD's. I've heard of checks being returned or direct deposits failing.

•Good idea, I'll give my bank a call tomorrow. Hadn't even thought of that!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Double-check all your info on the EDD website. Make sure your address, bank details, and everything else is correct. 2. Look for any pending tasks or messages in your EDD inbox. 3. If you can't find anything wrong online, you NEED to call them. Use the trick someone mentioned about calling right when they open. 4. If you still can't get through, consider using one of those paid services to get you connected. It sucks to pay, but it might be worth it. 5. While you're waiting, apply for other assistance programs if you haven't already. Food banks, rental assistance, etc. can help tide you over. 6. Document EVERYTHING. Keep a log of when you filed, all your attempts to contact them, any messages you've received. If you need to escalate later, this will be crucial. Hang in there, OP. The system is a mess, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

•Wish I had known all this when I first filed. Took me months to figure it out on my own.

•No, I didn't know that was an option. How do I find my rep?

•just google '[your city] state representative' and it should come up. most have forms on their websites for constituent services

Make sure you're not missing any certifications. I thought I was all caught up but turns out I missed one week and it held up my whole claim.
