No UI checks received yet - no communication from DUA. What to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment checks. I haven't received any yet and I'm getting worried. I've been waiting for a while now and haven't even gotten any notices or letters from the unemployment office. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm not sure if I need to verify my identity or what. Any advice would be really appreciated!

Ugh, I feel you. The unemployment system is such a mess rn. Have you tried logging into your account online to check the status of your claim? Sometimes they don't send letters but update stuff there.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I'll def check that out. Didn't even think to look online tbh 🤦♂️

•This! Always check online first. The physical mail is soooo slow these days.

I had a similar issue last month. Turns out they needed additional verification of my identity. Did you upload all your documents when you first applied? Make sure everything is there and up to date.

Have you tried calling them? I know its a pain, but sometimes you gotta bite the bullet and spend hours on hold to get answers.

•Calling is the worst! I spent 3 hours on hold last week and then got disconnected 😭

•Pro tip: I found a way to get someone on the phone without the wait. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/uVjQjxj3x3g

•Wait, seriously? That sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

•Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but it really did work for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

•I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was losing my mind trying to get through on my own.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your online account for any pending issues or requests for information. 2. Make sure all your documents are uploaded and up to date. 3. If you haven't received any communication, there might be an issue with your contact info. Double-check that it's correct in the system. 4. Try to get in touch with them - either by phone (be prepared to wait) or see if they have an email for inquiries. 5. If all else fails, reach out to your local state representative. They often have contacts in the unemployment office and can help push things along. Don't give up! The system is overwhelmed right now, but persistence is key. Good luck!

•It's designed to be difficult on purpose. They hope people will just give up.

Have you checked your spam folder? Sometimes their emails end up there. Also, make sure you're certifying for benefits every week, even if you haven't received anything yet.

OP, how long have you been waiting? It took almost 2 months for my first check to come through. The backlog is insane rn

•It's been about 6 weeks now. Ugh, guess I might have a bit longer to wait then 😩

Hey Mia! I went through the exact same thing a few months ago. Here's what worked for me - first, definitely check your online account like others mentioned. But also, try calling first thing in the morning (like 8:01 AM) - that's when I had the best luck getting through. Also, if you haven't already, make sure you're doing your weekly certifications even if you haven't gotten paid yet. Missing those can really mess things up. The waiting is awful but hang in there - once it gets sorted out, you'll usually get all the back pay at once. Keep us posted on how it goes!

•This is super helpful advice! I'm dealing with a similar situation right now and the weekly certification tip is something I didn't know about. Thanks for sharing your experience - it gives me hope that things will eventually work out. Did you have to do any additional identity verification when yours got resolved?

Just went through this exact same nightmare! Took me almost 3 months to get my first payment but here's what finally worked: I had to update my bank info even though it was supposedly correct, and I discovered there was a "pending issue" flag on my account that I could only see by digging deep into the online portal. Also - and this is key - make sure you're answering the weekly certification questions consistently. Any variation in your answers can trigger a review. The system is absolutely broken but don't give up! Once it gets resolved you should get all your back payments in one lump sum. Keep documenting everything and consider reaching out to your state rep if you hit the 8-week mark with no progress.

•Wow, this is incredibly detailed - thank you! The bank info tip is something I hadn't thought of at all. I'm definitely going to check for any "pending issues" that might be hidden in the system. It's so frustrating that they make it this complicated, but your experience gives me hope that persistence really does pay off. Did you have to call multiple times or were you able to resolve most of it through the online portal?

I'm going through the exact same thing right now - it's been about 5 weeks for me with zero communication from DUA. The silence is honestly the worst part because you have no idea if something's wrong or if you're just stuck in the queue. I've been checking my online account obsessively and everything looks "pending" but no real updates. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences here - at least now I know I'm not alone in this mess. Going to try calling at 8:01 AM tomorrow like someone suggested. This whole system really needs an overhaul 😤

•@Samuel Robinson I totally feel your frustration! 5 weeks with no communication is maddening - I m'at 6 weeks myself and was starting to think I was doing something wrong. The pending "status" with no updates is like being in limbo. Definitely try that 8:01 AM calling strategy - seems like several people have had success with that timing. We re'all in this together and hopefully our persistence will pay off soon. Keep us posted on how the call goes tomorrow! 🤞

I'm in the exact same boat - 7 weeks now with absolutely nothing! No checks, no letters, no emails, just radio silence. It's honestly driving me crazy not knowing what's going on. I've been doing my weekly certifications religiously but my account just shows everything as "under review." Reading through these responses is actually really reassuring though - at least I know this is a widespread issue and not just me screwing something up. Definitely going to try logging in early morning to check for any hidden pending issues, and maybe bite the bullet on that calling service if I get desperate enough. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - misery loves company I guess! 😅

•@Giovanni Colombo 7 weeks is brutal! I m'only at about 4 weeks myself but seeing everyone s'timelines here is both scary and oddly comforting - at least we know it s'not just us! The under "review status" with zero explanation is the absolute worst. I ve'been losing sleep over this wondering if I missed some crucial step or document. Really glad someone started this thread because I was starting to feel like I was going insane. Definitely going to try some of these suggestions, especially checking for those hidden pending issues that @Avery Davis mentioned. Hang in there - sounds like most people eventually get through this nightmare! 🤞

I'm so glad I found this thread! I've been going through the exact same thing - it's been about 5 weeks since I applied and I haven't received a single payment or even any communication from DUA. I was starting to panic thinking I did something wrong with my application. Reading everyone's experiences here is both terrifying (some people waiting 3-4 months?!) and reassuring at the same time. I'm definitely going to try that 8:01 AM calling strategy and dig deeper into my online account to look for hidden pending issues. Has anyone had success with contacting their local state rep? That seems like it might be worth trying if the phone calls don't work out. This whole situation is such a mess but at least we're all in it together! 💪

•@Cole Roush I m'so relieved to see your post! I was literally just thinking the same thing - this thread has been such a lifesaver for my sanity. I m'at about 6 weeks myself and was convinced I must have messed up my application somehow. The state rep idea is actually brilliant - I hadn t'even thought of that option. My cousin used her state rep for a different issue with another government agency last year and said they were surprisingly helpful. Might be worth trying that route if the phone calls don t'pan out. It s'crazy that we all have to become detective/advocates just to get basic unemployment benefits, but hey, at least we ve'got each other s'backs in this mess! Keep us updated on what works for you! 🤝

Ugh, I'm dealing with this exact same nightmare right now! It's been about 8 weeks for me with absolutely zero communication from DUA - no letters, no emails, nothing. I was honestly starting to think I was the only one going through this hell, so finding this thread is such a relief! @Jade O'Malley your step-by-step breakdown is amazing - I'm screenshotting that and working through each point. And @Lucas Bey that calling service actually sounds tempting at this point because I've literally spent entire days on hold just to get disconnected. The most frustrating part is not knowing if there's some hidden issue holding everything up or if I'm just stuck in the endless queue. I've been doing my weekly certifications religiously but everything just shows "pending" forever. Going to try logging in super early tomorrow to dig for any hidden pending issues, and if that doesn't work I might actually try contacting my state rep. Never thought I'd need to become a detective just to get unemployment benefits! Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences - we're all going to get through this mess eventually! 🤞
