EDD Card Still Not Received After Filing Claim - What to Do?

Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment card. It's been a while since I filed my claim and I still haven't received it. Has anyone else experienced this? Any advice on what I should do next?

Ugh, I feel ya. I was in the same boat a few months ago. Have you tried calling EDD? It's a pain, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

I've been trying to call for days but can't get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 mins on hold that way.

lol good luck with that. I tried for weeks and gave up

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/Ize0EkN4HDI

Sounds too good to be true. Has anyone else tried this?

I know it sounds sketchy, but I swear it worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration.

20 bucks tho? That's kinda steep just to talk to someone 🤔

Yeah, it's not cheap, but consider how much time you waste trying to get through. For me, it was worth it.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Check your claim status online first. Sometimes the card is sent but not activated. 2. If it's been more than 10 business days since your claim was approved, call EDD. 3. Make sure your address is correct in the system. 4. If all else fails, request a replacement card. Don't give up! The system is a mess rn but keep pushing and you'll get your money.

Thank you so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely follow these steps. 🙏

This is solid info. Wish I had known this when I was dealing with my claim last year.

The EDD is such a joke. How hard is it to mail a freaking card? 🤡 We need to overhaul this whole system.

Preach! 👏 The amount of stress they put people through is ridiculous.

It's not just EDD, all government agencies are like this. Bureaucracy at its finest 🙄

Hey OP, how long ago did you file your claim? If its been more than 3 weeks, you should definitely follow up. Sometimes they get backlogged and claims fall through the cracks.

It's been about a month now. Guess I really need to chase this up!

DONT WAIT FOR THE CARD!!! You can have them do a direct deposit instead. Way faster and more reliable. Just gotta update your payment preferences on the EDD website.

This!!! Direct deposit is the way to go. No more waiting for snail mail.

Wait, really? How did I not know this was an option? 🤦‍♂️

im in the exact same situation rn. filed 6 weeks ago and still no card. this whole process is so stressfull

Ugh, sorry you're dealing with this too. Hope we both get our cards soon!

Have you tried reaching out to your local state representative? Sometimes they can help push things along with EDD. Worth a shot if you're really stuck.

Honestly, the best thing I did was set up direct deposit like @Luca Ricci mentioned. I wasted 2 months waiting for my card that never came, then switched to direct deposit and got my payment within a week. You can change it in your UI Online account under "Payment Method." Also, if you do need to call, try the 833-978-2511 number early morning - seems to have shorter wait times than the main line. Hang in there! 💪

Thanks for the tip about the 833 number! I've been trying the main line forever with no luck. Quick question - when you switched to direct deposit, did you have to wait for any kind of confirmation before the payments started coming through? Just want to make sure I do this right 🤞
