EDD unemployment payment stuck on pending - what to do?
Hey everyone, I'm having trouble with my unemployment payment. I haven't received anything for the most recent week. My claim status is still showing as pending. Has anyone else experienced this? It's really stressing me out because I need that money to pay bills. Any advice on what I should do or who I should contact?

Serious question: has anyone actually received consistent, on-time payments from EDD? Beginning to think it's a myth...

•I did! For like... two whole weeks. Then it all went to hell 🙃

•I think it's rare, but some folks have managed to get consistent payments with persistence.

Plot twist: EDD is actually run by squirrels and we're all just part of their elaborate acorn-based economy experiment

•This... actually explains a lot 🐿️

Anyone else feel like they need a PhD in bureaucracy to navigate this system? 🎓🤔

•PhD? More like a ouija board and a crystal ball 🔮

•Right? It's like they've designed it to be as confusing as possible.

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there's additional info or certifications needed that aren't obvious.

•Yeah, I've triple-checked everything. All certifications are done and there's no new messages 😕

•In that case, it might be worth reaching out to your local assembly member. They sometimes help expedite claims.

Remember when we thought this would all be over in two weeks? Good times 🤡

•Ah, the early days of optimism! How naive we were.

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Check out this video for more info: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? $20 seems steep just to make a phone call.

•I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

•How long did it take to get through using this service?

•It took about 2 hours, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They called me when an agent was on the line.

•I've heard good things about it, but I wonder if there's a more affordable alternative?

Here's what you need to do: 1. Keep certifying every week, even if you're not getting paid. 2. Check your UI Online account daily for updates or new messages. 3. Try calling early in the morning or late in the afternoon - those are usually less busy times. 4. If you can't get through on the phone, try contacting your local assembly member's office. They often have direct lines to EDD. 5. Document everything - dates you certified, when payments were supposed to come, any communication attempts. 6. Be patient (I know it sucks) but sometimes these issues resolve themselves in a week or two. If none of that works, you might have to bite the bullet and keep calling until you get through. It's a pain, but sometimes talking to a real person is the only way to fix these issues. Hang in there, OP! We're all in this mess together.

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed response! I'll definitely try contacting my assembly member, hadn't thought of that.

•This is great advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls, including date, time, and rep name if you get through.

•Yes, documentation is key! It can really help in case you need to escalate the issue further.

PSA: If your claim is stuck "pending" for more than 3 weeks, you can file for a hardship advance. It's not much, but it might help tide you over.

•I had no idea this was a thing! Do you know where I can find more info on this?

Hailey O'Leary
•Sure! You can find info on the EDD website under "Hardship Assistance". But fair warning, it can be hard to get approved.

•Definitely worth a shot if you're really in a jam. Just be prepared for the approval process.

Have you tried sacrificing a goat to the EDD gods? Might be more effective than calling tbh 🐐

Have you tried calling the EDD? Sometimes they can push it through if you get ahold of someone.

Protip: if you're having trouble reaching EDD, try contacting them on Twitter. Sometimes their social media team can help or at least escalate your issue.

If you're struggling with unemployment payments and can't get through to EDD, consider using services like Claimyr. While it does come at a cost, many people have found it saves time and frustration by connecting them with a representative more effectively. However, it's important to weigh the cost against your current financial situation and explore other free avenues of assistance first, such as reaching out to local representatives or utilizing social media channels. Keep detailed records of all your interactions and certifications to avoid further complications, and remember you're not alone in this struggle. Persistence and exploring all available options can help you navigate these challenging times.
