EDD payment delay since 12/29 - causing financial stress. Any advice?
Hey everyone, I'm really struggling here. I haven't received my unemployment payment since December 29th, and it's causing some serious financial stress. Has anyone else experienced long delays like this? Any advice on how to speed things up or what I should do next? I'm getting worried about bills piling up.

Ugh, I feel your pain. I was in the same boat last month. Have you tried calling the EDD? It's a nightmare to get through, but sometimes that's the only way to get answers.

•I've been trying to call for days, but I can never get through. It's so frustrating! 😤

•Pro tip: call right when they open. I got through after only 30 minutes on hold that way.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Can you explain more about how it works? Is it legit?

•Yeah, so basically you put in your phone number on their website, and they call the EDD for you. When they get a real person, they connect you. It's pretty simple.

Have you checked your UI Online account? Sometimes there are messages or requests for additional information that can hold up your payments.

I hate to say it, but welcome to the club. 🙃 I've been waiting since November. The system is totally broken. I've tried everything - calling, emailing, even contacting my state rep. Nothing seems to work.

•November?! That's insane. How are you surviving?

•Barely. Credit cards and help from family. It's not sustainable tho 😓

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Keep a log of all your attempts to contact EDD. 2. Check your UI Online account daily for updates or requests. 3. If you can't get through on the phone, try sending a message through the UI Online portal. 4. Contact your state assembly member or senator. They often have liaisons who can help with EDD issues. 5. If you're really in a bind, consider applying for emergency assistance programs in your area. 6. Keep certifying for benefits every two weeks, even if you're not getting paid. 7. Join Facebook groups or other online communities for unemployment support. Sometimes people share insider tips there. Hang in there. The system is overwhelmed, but persistence usually pays off eventually.

I heard they're super backed up because of some new anti-fraud measures. Apparently, a ton of claims got flagged for additional review. Might be worth checking if that happened to yours.

Not to be that guy, but have you considered looking for work? I know the job market sucks rn, but even a part-time gig might help while you wait for EDD to get their act together.

•I appreciate the suggestion, but I'm actually starting a new job next week. Just trying to stay afloat until then.

This is why we need UBI. The current system is a joke.
