EDD entered wrong return-to-work date, missing a month of benefits. Help!

Hey everyone, I'm having a major issue with my unemployment claim. The system has my return-to-work date wrong, and it's messing up my payments. They put in 02/11/25 as my return date, but that was actually just the last time I called them. My real return date is supposed to be 03/10/2025. Because of this mistake, I'm missing a whole month's worth of benefits. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Any advice on how to get it fixed quickly?

Ugh, classic EDD mess-up. πŸ™„ I had a similar issue last year. You need to call them ASAP and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho...

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. How does it actually work?

It's legit! You just put in your phone number on their site, pay the fee, and they start calling EDD for you. When they get a real person, your phone rings and you're connected.

I get the skepticism, but after spending days trying to get through myself, it was worth every penny. Saved me so much time and stress.

Have you tried updating your info online? Sometimes you can avoid the whole calling nightmare if you're lucky

This happened to me too! Here's what worked: 1. Document everything. Write down the correct date, when you first noticed the error, and any communications you've had with EDD. 2. Try to update it online first. Go to your UI Online account and see if you can submit a request to correct the info. 3. If that doesn't work, you gotta call. Use the trick someone mentioned above to get through faster. 4. When you talk to a rep, be super clear about the issue. Ask them to notate your account. 5. Follow up with a written appeal. Send a letter explaining the situation and include any proof you have of your correct return-to-work date. 6. Keep checking your account for updates and don't be afraid to follow up if things aren't moving. Good luck! The system's a mess but hang in there πŸ’ͺ

This is why we need a complete overhaul of the unemployment system. It's ridiculous that simple errors like this can cause so much stress and financial hardship. Anyone know if there are any petitions or advocacy groups working on this?

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other departments. Sometimes they can transfer you internally and it's way faster.
