EDD: How to fix wrong back-to-work date on claim?
Hey everyone, I messed up and put the wrong back to work date on my claim. Has anyone dealt with this before? What should I do to fix it? I'm worried it might affect my benefits.

Ugh, been there done that. It's a pain in the butt to fix, but you gotta do it ASAP. Call the EDD and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for like 3 hours tho 🙄

•3 hours? You're lucky if it's only that long lol. I've been trying to get through for days!

•Pro tip: call right when they open. Sometimes you can get through faster

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

•I get the skepticism, but it seriously worked for me. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•How long did it take to get through using this?

•It took about an hour and a half, but I didn't have to sit there listening to hold music. They just called me when an agent was on the line

Whatever you do, don't just leave it. I made that mistake and ended up owing money back 😭 Definitely get it fixed asap!

Here's what you need to do: 1. Try calling the EDD at 1-800-300-5616 2. Be ready with your claim number and correct back-to-work date 3. If you can't get through on the phone, you can try sending a message through UI Online 4. Keep a record of all your attempts to contact them 5. If all else fails, consider reaching out to your local assemblymember's office. They can sometimes help push things through Remember, the sooner you fix this, the less likely you are to have issues with your benefits. Good luck!

Quick question - how far off is your back-to-work date? If it's just a day or two, it might not be a huge deal. But if it's weeks or months, definitely get it fixed

•It's about 2 weeks off. I accidentally put the end of next month instead of the middle of this month 😬

Have you tried faxing them? Sometimes old school methods work better with these dinosaur systems lol

Hey @Ayla Kumar, I just went through this exact same thing last month! Since your date is off by 2 weeks, you definitely want to get that corrected ASAP. I'd recommend trying multiple approaches at once - call the number that @Isaiah Sanders provided, AND submit a message through UI Online explaining the error. In my experience, sometimes the online message gets a faster response than the phone calls. Make sure to include your claim number and be very specific about what the correct date should be. Also keep screenshots of everything you submit. The good news is that as long as you're being proactive about fixing it, they're usually pretty understanding about honest mistakes. Don't stress too much, you got this! 💪

•This is super helpful, thank you! I didn't know you could do both the phone call AND online message at the same time. That's a smart approach. I'm definitely going to try this today. Really appreciate everyone's advice here - makes me feel less panicked about the whole situation 😅

Just wanted to add that if you're having trouble getting through on the phone, try calling right at 8 AM when they open - that's when I had the most success. Also, make sure you have all your documentation ready before you call (claim number, social security number, the incorrect date you entered, and the correct date). The rep will need all of this info to make the change. One more tip - if you get disconnected (which happens way too often), don't give up! Keep trying. I know it's frustrating but it's really important to get this fixed before it affects your next payment. You've got this! 🙏

•Thanks for the tip about calling at 8 AM! I'm definitely going to set an alarm and try that tomorrow morning. Really appreciate everyone sharing their experiences - it's so reassuring to know I'm not the first person to deal with this. Going to gather all my documents tonight so I'm ready to go first thing in the morning 🤞

•@Paolo Ricci that s'exactly what I did when I had my issue! The 8 AM call trick really works. Also want to mention - if you do get through to someone, ask them to email you a confirmation of the change they made. Sometimes things get lost in their system and having that email saved my butt when there was confusion later. The whole process is a nightmare but once it s'fixed you ll'feel so much better!

I dealt with this exact same situation a few months ago and it was such a headache! Here's what worked for me: I called the 1-800-300-5616 number that others mentioned, but I also sent a detailed message through UI Online at the same time explaining the error. In the online message, I included my claim number, the incorrect date I had entered, and the correct back-to-work date. Make sure to be super specific about the dates. It took about a week to get a response online, but they were able to fix it without me having to stay on hold for hours. The key is to act fast though - the longer you wait, the more complicated it can get. Also, keep records of everything you submit in case you need to reference it later. Don't panic, this happens more often than you'd think and they're used to fixing these kinds of mistakes!

•This is really reassuring to hear! I was getting worried that it would be impossible to fix, but knowing that you got it resolved through the online message gives me hope. I'm definitely going to try both methods like you suggested. Quick question - when you sent the online message, did you get any kind of confirmation that it was received? I want to make sure I'm not just sending it into the void. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! 🙏
