EDD claim mistake: Put same date for effective and back-to-work. How to fix?
Hey everyone, I messed up and put the same date for my effective date and back-to-work date on my unemployment claim. Has anyone else done this? What should I do to fix it? I'm worried it might affect my benefits.

Ugh, I've been there. It's such a pain when you make a mistake on these forms. Have you tried calling the EDD to explain the situation? They might be able to help you correct it.

I've been trying to call all day but can't get through. It's so frustrating! π€

Oof, yeah the phone lines are a nightmare. Keep trying tho, sometimes you get lucky if you call right when they open.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Are you sure it's legit?

Yeah, I was skeptical at first too, but I tried it and it actually worked. Saved me hours of frustration.

I get it, but for me it was worth it. Time is money, and I was wasting so much time trying to get through.

This happened to me last year. I ended up going to my local EDD office in person. It took a while, but they were able to fix it on the spot. Might be worth a shot if you can't get through on the phone.

The EDD system is such a joke. How are we supposed to survive when we cant even get basic help? π€‘ This country is falling apart I swear

C'mon, it's not that bad. At least we have an unemployment system. Some countries don't even have that.

Oh please, just because other places have it worse doesn't mean we can't criticize our broken system π

Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the dates you entered, when you noticed the error, and any attempts you've made to correct it. 2. Try to submit a correction online through your EDD account. Sometimes there's an option to update information. 3. If online doesn't work, you NEED to speak with a rep. Keep calling, use the trick of pressing different menu options, or try that claimyr service someone mentioned. 4. As a last resort, write a detailed letter explaining the error and mail it to your local EDD office. Include your claim number and contact info. 5. Don't panic if your payments get delayed. As long as you're proactive about fixing the error, they should backpay you for any weeks you're eligible. Remember, mistakes happen. The EDD deals with this stuff all the time. Just be persistent and you'll get it sorted out. Good luck!

This is great advice. I'd add that keeping a log of all your calls (date, time, who you spoke to) can be helpful if you need to escalate the issue later.

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling some of the other EDD numbers (like the employer line or tech support). Sometimes you can get transferred to the right department that way. It's a bit sneaky but desperate times call for desperate measures lol

I think I saw something about that on the EDD website. Supposed to be later this year but who knows with government timelines π€·ββοΈ
