PFL claim dates messed up - put same date for start/end. How to fix?

I messed up big time on my Paid Family Leave claim. I put the same date for both the start and end of my leave, which was supposed to be my first day off work. Now I'm realizing this is probably why I haven't gotten my benefits. Has anyone else made a mistake like this? How did you fix it? I'm thinking I need to contact them to correct the dates, but I'm not sure what kind of proof they'll want. Any advice on how to handle this would be really appreciated!

Ugh, bureaucracy strikes again! 🙄 I had a similar issue with my claim. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call them ASAP. The earlier you catch it, the easier it is to fix. 2. Have your claim number ready. 3. Explain the mistake clearly and calmly. 4. Ask what documents they need - usually it's stuff like pay stubs or a letter from your employer. 5. Follow up with an email summarizing your call. Good luck, OP! The system's a maze, but you'll get through it.

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of all your calls and who you spoke to. It'll save you headaches later if theres any confusion

fr fr 💯 documentation is key. I learned that the hard way lol

Thanks so much! This is really helpful. I'll definitely start keeping better records.

bruh how do you even make that mistake? 🤦‍♂️ the form literally asks for start AND end dates smh

Hey, cut OP some slack. We all make mistakes, especially when dealing with confusing government forms.

fair enough. my bad OP, hope you get it sorted

No worries, I know it was a dumb mistake. I was rushing and misread the form. Lesson learned!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds sketchy. Is this legit? Has anyone else tried it?

20 bucks? That's highway robbery!

I get the skepticism, but it's totally legit. Saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

Can confirm, I've used it too. Beats sitting on hold for hours!

pro tip: draft an email before you call. makes it easier to remember all your points and you can send it as a follow-up right after

This happened to me last year! It took forever to fix 😩 Make sure you're super clear about the correct dates when you talk to them. And yeah, get ready to provide proof. I had to send in my work schedule and a letter from HR.

Oh no, how long did it take to resolve? I'm worried about delays in getting my benefits 😕

It took about 3 weeks for me, but I've heard it can vary. Just stay on top of it and keep following up!

lmao welcome to the wonderful world of government efficiency 🤡 good luck OP, you're gonna need it

ikr? feels like we're living in the stone age sometimes with these systems 🦕

Hey, don't stress too much. Mistakes happen. I work in HR and see this kinda thing all the time. Just be polite but persistent when you call. And yeah, gather any docs that show your actual leave dates - paystubs, timesheets, whatever you've got. You got this!

Thanks for the encouragement! It's reassuring to hear this isn't uncommon.

Oof, been there done that. Quick question - have you checked your online account? Sometimes you can submit corrections there without calling. Might save you some time on hold!

I didn't even think of that! I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the tip!

unpopular opinion: the system is designed to be confusing on purpose. they hope people will give up and not claim benefits. stay strong and don't let them win!

Tin foil hat much? 🤣 But for real, it does feel that way sometimes

100% agree. It's all about saving money for the state. 🐍

I made a similar mistake on my disability claim a few months ago - accidentally put my injury date as both start and end dates. What helped me was calling early in the morning (like right at 8am when they open) and having ALL my paperwork ready before I called. Make sure you have your Social Security number, claim number, employer info, and the CORRECT dates written down clearly. When you talk to them, be super specific about what the mistake was and what it should be. They'll probably ask for documentation like pay stubs showing your last day worked or a doctor's note with the actual leave dates. The rep I talked to was actually pretty understanding once I explained it clearly. Hang in there - it's fixable, just takes some patience with the system!
