PFL approval start date wrong (2024 vs 2025) - How to fix?

Hey everyone, I just got approved for paid family leave but I messed up on the start date. I put 2024 instead of 2025. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm worried they might not pay me until it's fixed. What should I do when I talk to them?

Congrats on getting approved! Don't worry too much, this kind of thing happens all the time. When you call, just explain the mistake clearly. They should be able to fix it pretty quickly. Make sure you have your claim number and correct date ready when you call.

Yeah, don't sweat it. I had a similar issue with my disability claim. They fixed it in like 5 minutes over the phone. Just be polite and theyll sort it out for ya

Ugh, their system is such a pain sometimes. I swear they make it confusing on purpose 🙄 Good luck getting through to someone tho, I was on hold for HOURS last time I called

Pro tip: I found a way to get someone on the phone without the endless hold times. I used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. It costs $20, but it worked for me. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Totally legit! I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

make sure you get everything in writing after they fix it. CYA always with these government agencies, you never know when youll need proof later

I work in HR and deal with this stuff all the time. Here's what you need to do: 1. Call the PFL office ASAP. The sooner you correct it, the better. 2. Have your claim number, correct start date, and any other relevant info ready. 3. Explain the situation calmly and clearly. It's a common mistake. 4. Ask them to confirm the change verbally, then request written confirmation. 5. Follow up via email or their online portal if they have one. 6. Keep all documentation related to this correction. Don't stress too much. These things happen and they're usually pretty good about fixing them. Just stay on top of it and you should be fine!
