PFL application approved but wrong start date - how to fix?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle with my paid family leave application. I think I got approved, but I'm pretty sure I messed up and put the wrong year for my start date. Has anyone dealt with this before? I'm worried it might cause issues down the line. Any advice on how to fix this or who to contact?

Ugh, bureaucracy at its finest π I had a similar issue with my unemployment claim last year. Best bet is to call them ASAP and explain the situation. Better to fix it now than have problems later.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

β’I mean, considering how much time and stress it saved me, it was worth it imo

Listen up, OP. Here's what you need to do: 1. Document everything. Write down the correct start date and any other relevant info. 2. Try to reach out via their online portal first. Sometimes you can submit corrections there. 3. If that doesn't work, call them. Be prepared to wait on hold for a while. 4. When you get through, explain the situation calmly and clearly. Ask them to notate your account. 5. Request written confirmation of the change. 6. Follow up in a week if you haven't heard anything. Remember, mistakes happen. They deal with this stuff all the time. Just be polite but persistent. Good luck!

have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds old school, but sometimes it works when nothing else does

Pro tip: if you can't get through on the main line, try calling right when they open or just before they close. Sometimes you have better luck then.

Am I the only one who thinks its ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to fix a simple mistake? The system is broken af

I went through something similar last month! I put 2023 instead of 2024 on my application and was freaking out. Here's what worked for me: I logged into the EDD portal and found a "Report Changes" section where I could submit a correction request. I uploaded a brief explanation letter with the correct dates and my claim number. Got a response within about 10 business days saying it was fixed. Way easier than trying to call! Hope this helps and saves you some stress π€

β’This is super helpful! I didn't even know there was a "Report Changes" section in the portal. Definitely going to try this first before dealing with their phone system. Thanks for sharing your experience! π
