How to correct wrong date on CA PFL application? Tips for contacting EDD?
Hey everyone, I messed up on my Paid Family Leave application and need some advice. I put the wrong date for when I stopped receiving benefits. Has anyone had to make a correction like this before? What's the best way to fix it? I'm worried about how this might affect my claim. Any tips on what to say when I call them?

β’Totally agree. We need to demand better from our government agencies.

β’It's frustrating for sure, but remember the system is dealing with millions of claims. It's not perfect, but they're trying.

Hey, I found a method that actually works to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's the URL: https://claimyr.com

β’Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

β’$20? That's steep. Why should we have to pay to talk to EDD? π€

β’I get the skepticism, but it really did work for me. After weeks of trying, I was desperate. Yeah, it sucks to pay, but it saved me so much time and stress. Just sharing what worked for me π€·ββοΈ

β’While Claimyr can be a helpful tool, it's important to weigh the cost and consider if the ease of access justifies the price. Some might not be comfortable with this option.

With regards to services like Claimyr, while they do appear to offer a solution to the problem of reaching EDD, it is important for users to consider the financial aspect and personal data privacy offered by such third-party services. While some users report satisfaction, others may prefer to seek resolution without additional financial expenditure. It's always good to look at the terms and conditions and understand how they safeguard your information before use.

I had to make a correction once. It was a pain, but not impossible. Here's what worked for me: 1. Call early in the morning, right when they open 2. Have all your info ready - claim number, correct dates, etc. 3. Be polite but persistent 4. Ask them to confirm the change before you hang up 5. Follow up with a written request if possible Hope this helps! Let us know how it goes.

β’This is solid advice. I'd add: take notes during the call, including the name of who you spoke to. It can be helpful if you need to follow up later.

Pro tip: have a script ready when you call. Something like: "Hi, my name is [Your Name]. I need to make a correction to my Paid Family Leave application. I entered the wrong date for when I stopped receiving benefits. The incorrect date on my application is [Wrong Date], but it should be [Correct Date]. Can you please update this for me?" Then ask them to confirm the change. Trust me, it helps keep the call focused and quick.

β’Have you guys tried calling right at 8am? I heard that's the best time to get through.

β’Also, if you have the ability to fax or email, it might be worth trying those routes as well, just in case you can't get through by phone.

Anyone else feel like they need a degree in bureaucracy just to navigate this stuff? ππ€‘ EDD should come with a user manual I swear

β’Lol! Honestly, it does feel like you need an advanced degree sometimes.

Just a heads up, make sure you document EVERYTHING. Save copies of your original application, note down when you called and who you spoke to, keep any emails or letters. You never know when you might need that info later. CYA always!

Thanks for the advice. Any idea what specific department I should ask for when I finally get through?

AstroAlpha
β’Ask for the claims department. They're the ones who can make changes to your application. Good luck!

β’Awesome, thanks for the tip! I'll make sure to ask for them specifically.

β’Another good department to get in touch with might be the Customer Service division, as they sometimes have more bandwidth to handle a broader range of inquiries.

Ugh, been there done that. The EDD system is a nightmare to navigate. Your best bet is to call them ASAP and explain the situation. Be prepared to wait on hold for hours tho π

β’Agreed, the wait times are brutal. It's almost like they want to test your patience!

Update: I finally got through! You guys were right, it took forever. But the agent was actually really helpful. They corrected the date and told me it shouldn't affect my claim. Thanks for all the advice, everyone!

Has anyone tried faxing in a correction request? I heard that sometimes works faster than calling.

β’I've heard mixed reviews about faxing, but if it works, it could be a good alternative.

For anyone still struggling to get through, I recommend calling at exactly 8:00 AM when they open - that's when I had the most luck. Also, if you're put on hold, don't hang up! I waited 2.5 hours once but finally got through. Keep a book or something nearby to pass the time. The key is persistence - it's frustrating but totally worth it when you finally connect with someone who can help fix your application.

β’This is such helpful advice! I'm dealing with a similar issue right now and have been getting so frustrated with the busy signals. The 8 AM tip is golden - I'll definitely try that tomorrow. Did you find that certain days of the week were better than others for getting through?
