Need to change incorrect dates on PFL claim - how to reach a human?

Hey everyone, I messed up when filing my paid family leave claim. I put in some wrong dates and now I need to change them. Has anyone dealt with this before? I tried to fix it myself but it looks like I need to talk to an actual person to make the changes. Any advice on how to get through to someone?

Ugh, I feel your pain. The system is such a nightmare to navigate. I had a similar issue last year and it took me weeks to get it sorted out. Have you tried calling their helpline?

Yeah, I've been trying to call but I just keep getting stuck on hold forever. It's so frustrating!

Pro tip: call right when they open in the morning. You might have better luck getting through.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give that a shot tomorrow morning.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Does it really work?

It worked for me! I was skeptical at first too, but I was desperate after trying for weeks to get through.

20 bucks tho? Thats kinda steep for something that should be free 🙄

I get it, but for me it was worth it to finally get my issue resolved. Time is money, ya know?

Have you tried reaching out to them on social media? Sometimes they respond faster there.

I had the exact same problem last month! Here's what I did to fix it: 1. First, I tried calling but that was useless. Couldn't get through. 2. Then I sent an email explaining the situation. No response for weeks. 3. Finally, I went to my local office in person. Took half a day off work, but I got it sorted. If you can, try going to an office. Bring all your paperwork and be prepared to wait. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the detailed advice! I'll try the in-person route if I can't get through on the phone.

This is solid advice. In-person is always better for complicated issues.

Have you considered reaching out to your local representative? Sometimes they can help push things through faster.

I hadn't thought of that! Do you know how I would go about contacting them?

Just google your district and 'state representative'. They usually have a constituent services office that can help with stuff like this.

I went through this exact same situation a few months ago! Here's what finally worked for me: I kept a detailed log of every time I called, what time, and how long I waited before hanging up. Then I filed a complaint with the state's consumer protection agency citing the unreasonable wait times. Within 48 hours, I got a callback from a supervisor who was able to fix my date errors in about 10 minutes. Sometimes you have to escalate to get results. Also, if you have any medical documentation that supports the correct dates, make sure to have that ready when you do get through to someone. Good luck!

This is incredibly helpful advice! I never thought about keeping a detailed log or filing a complaint with consumer protection. That's really smart thinking. I'll definitely start documenting my call attempts now. Do you remember which consumer protection agency you used? Was it through the state attorney general's office or a different department?

I'm dealing with the same issue right now! Made a mistake with my claim dates and it's been such a headache trying to get it fixed. Reading through everyone's suggestions here - seems like there are a few different approaches that might work. I'm going to try calling first thing in the morning like Oliver suggested, and if that doesn't work I'll consider the in-person route that Malik mentioned. The idea of keeping a detailed log like Myles did is really smart too. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it's reassuring to know I'm not the only one struggling with this system!
