PFL Claim Nightmare: Called Wrong Dept, Need Help Reaching Right One ASAP!
Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with my Paid Family Leave claim. I accidentally called the wrong department and now I'm not sure what to do. Has anyone else had this issue? Any advice on how to get through to the right people? I'm really stressed about this and could use some help.

Ugh, been there done that. The system is so confusing! Have you tried calling the main number and asking to be transferred? Sometimes that works for me.

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll give that a try. Did it take you a long time to get through?

Honestly, it can be hit or miss. Sometimes I've gotten lucky and only waited like 20 minutes, other times... well, let's just say I've watched entire seasons of shows while on hold 😅

20 minutes?! You must have a horseshoe up your butt or something. I've never waited less than an hour 🙄

I found a method to get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo.

I've used it twice now. Worked both times. Still annoying to pay for something that should be free, but better than wasting an entire day on hold.

Pro tip: call right when they open. Like, set an alarm and be ready to dial the second they start taking calls. It's still a wait, but way shorter than midday.

Have you tried reaching out on social media? Sometimes tweeting at them or messaging on Facebook can get a response. Worth a shot if you're desperate!

Okay, here's what you need to do: 1. First, take a deep breath. It's frustrating, but fixable. 2. Go to the PFL website and double-check the correct number. Write it down. 3. Call first thing in the morning, like 7:59 AM if they open at 8. 4. Have all your info ready - claim number, SSN, dates, etc. 5. Be polite but firm with the rep. Explain you were misdirected and need help. 6. If they can't help, ask to speak to a supervisor. 7. Keep a log of all calls - date, time, rep name if possible. 8. If phone fails, try email or their online portal if available. 9. As a last resort, contact your local state representative's office. They can sometimes intervene. Remember, persistence is key. Don't give up! Good luck!

Thanks for asking! I'm trying to file a claim for bonding time with my newborn, but I'm not sure if I'm eligible since I work part-time. That's why I really need to talk to someone directly.

Ah gotcha. Part-time can be tricky. Make sure you have your exact hours worked for the past 18 months when you call. They'll need that to determine eligibility. Congrats on the new baby btw!
