PFL claim disaster: Put wrong dates, only got $150 for a month. How to fix?

Hey everyone, I messed up big time with my Paid Family Leave claim. I accidentally put the wrong date for when my baby was born and when I planned to go back to work. I only put down 1 day of baby bonding instead of a whole month! Now I'm only getting $150 for taking care of my baby for a month. Has anyone else dealt with this? How can I fix it and get the right amount?

Oof, that's rough buddy. I've been there tho. Here's what you gotta do: 1. Get all your docs together - birth certificate, hospital records, anything that proves when your kid was born and when you actually took leave. 2. Call the PFL office ASAP. Explain the mistake and ask to correct the dates. 3. Be super nice on the phone. These folks deal with angry people all day, so being polite might help you out. 4. Follow up with any extra paperwork they need. 5. Keep calling until it's fixed. Don't give up! Good luck! 🍀

Thanks so much for the detailed advice! I'll definitely gather all my docs before calling. Any idea how long the correction process usually takes?

No prob! In my experience, it can take anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. Depends on how backed up they are. Just keep following up!

This is solid advice. I'd add: keep a log of every call you make - date, time, who you spoke to. It'll help if you need to escalate later.

man, the system is so broken. why do they make it so hard for new parents? we're already stressed enough without having to jump through all these hoops. 🤦‍♂️

Preach! 🙌 It's like they want us to fail or something. The whole process needs a major overhaul.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit? Anyone else tried it?

Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of hold time. Worth every penny imo.

20 bucks to skip the hold? Sign me up! 💸 How long did it take to get through?

It took about 45 minutes for me, but I've heard it can vary. Still way better than being stuck on hold yourself!

Pro tip: If you can't get through on the phone, try reaching out on social media. Sometimes their Twitter team is more responsive than the phone lines. 🐦

This! I got my issue resolved in like 2 days after tweeting at them. It's wild how that works sometimes.

Have you considered contacting your local state representative? They often have staff dedicated to helping constituents with these kinds of issues. Might be worth a shot if you keep hitting dead ends with PFL directly.

I hadn't even thought of that! Great idea, I'll look into it if I can't get anywhere with PFL. Thanks!
