EDD Claim Mistake: Entered as Pregnancy Instead of FMLA for Postpartum Depression - Help!
Hey everyone, I messed up big time with my disability claim. I accidentally entered it as illness/pregnancy when it should've been for unpaid time off under FMLA. Now the system's asking for a due date and I'm not even pregnant! It's actually for postpartum depression. Anyone know how to fix this without starting the whole process over? I'm freaking out here.

Ugh, that sucks! The EDD system is such a nightmare. I had a similar issue last year. Your best bet is to call them directly and explain the situation. They should be able to update it on their end.

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone! I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•20 bucks tho? 😬 That's steep for a phone call.

•Yeah, it's not cheap, but consider how much time and stress it saves. Totally worth it for me.

Here's what you need to do: 1. Call EDD asap 2. Explain the mistake clearly 3. Ask them to update the claim type 4. Request confirmation in writing 5. Follow up if you don't hear back in a week Don't panic, these things happen more often than you'd think. The key is to be polite but persistent. Good luck!

Have you tried updating it online? Sometimes you can make changes through your account without calling.

•I looked but couldn't find an option to change the claim type. Maybe I missed it?

•Hmm, it might depend on how far along your claim is. Calling is probably your best bet then.

Pro tip: if you do call, try early in the morning right when they open. You're more likely to get through quickly.

Just curious, how long ago did you file the claim? If it's recent, they might be more willing to make changes without too much hassle.

•I filed it yesterday, so hopefully that works in my favor!

•Oh yeah, you should be fine then. Just call them ASAP before it gets processed further.

Anyone else feel like we need a complete overhaul of the disability claim system? It's 2023 and we're still dealing with these archaic processes 🤦♂️

•Preach! 🙌 The whole system is held together with duct tape and prayers at this point.

•For real. My grandma could design a better system, and she still uses a flip phone.
