Plot twist: there is no 'right department'. It's all a conspiracy to make us give up and go back to work 🤡
Hey, former EDD employee here. The system is definitely overwhelmed, but here's a tip: if you can, try to find out the extension number for the department you need. Sometimes you can bypass the main menu this way. Also, be super nice to the reps - they're drowning in calls and a little kindness goes a long way.
Have you tried faxing them? I know it sounds ridiculous in 2023, but I've heard some people have had success getting attention that way.
guys i think we need to organize and do something about this. its not ok that so many of us are struggling to get the benefits we're entitled to. anyone interested in starting a petition or contacting local news?
Anybody else feel like were playing a game of bureaucratic pinball? 🕹️ You think youve hit the right target but then NOPE back to square one lol
Just a heads up, I heard they're implementing a new system next month that's supposed to streamline the whole process. Might be worth waiting if you can.
OP, have you checked if your benefit year ended? Sometimes that can cause a gap in payments while they review your claim. Might be worth looking into.

The whole system needs an overhaul. It's not equipped to handle the volume of claims, especially with all the changes due to COVID. We need to pressure our representatives to modernize the unemployment system!

•Maybe we should start a petition? If enough people sign, they might actually do something.

Quick question - did you receive any kind of confirmation when you submitted the updated documentation? I'm about to do the same and want to make sure I don't miss anything important.
