EDD Disqualified My Claim - How to Fix Wage Continuation Error?
Hey everyone, I'm in a bit of a pickle. I got a notice saying my unemployment claim was disqualified. There was an option to submit an electronic appeal, but I'm not sure what to do next. I think I might have made a mistake when filling out the form - I selected the wrong option about wage continuation. Has anyone dealt with this before? Any advice on how to fix this and get my claim back on track?

Ugh, been there done that. The EDD system is such a mess! 🤦♂️ Here's what you need to do: 1. Call them ASAP and explain the error 2. Have any proof from your employer that you didn't get continued wages 3. Ask them to update your claim with the correct info 4. Find out what else you need to do to fix the disqualification Good luck, it's gonna be a pain but stay on it!

•Thanks for the advice! Do you know how long it usually takes to get this sorted out?

•It can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on how backed up they are. Just keep following up!

I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. I used this site's (claimyr.com) calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, waits for a live agent to pick up, then sends the call to my phone. It does cost $20, but it works. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/1X-mEsLtbmQ

•Sounds too good to be true. Is this legit?

•Yeah, it's totally legit. I was skeptical at first too, but it saved me hours of frustration. Worth every penny imo

•I get it, but think about how much time you waste trying to get through. For me, it was worth it to just get it done

pro tip: always double check your answers before submitting any EDD forms. Theyre looking for any reason to deny claims these days 🙄

Have you tried reaching out to your local assembly member? Sometimes they can help speed things up with EDD.

•I hadn't thought of that! How do I find out who my assembly member is?

•Just google 'find my california assembly member' and enter your address. They usually have a form on their website for constituent services.

I went thru something similar last year. Make sure you keep ALL your documentation. And I mean everything - emails, letters, screenshots. You never know what might help your case.

•This 👆 Documentation is key. EDD lost my paperwork twice and I had to resubmit everything.

•100% agree. It's a feature, not a bug 🙃

Hey OP, when you do get through to someone, make sure to get their name and ID number. It helps if you need to follow up later.

@Nadia Zaldivar I went through the exact same thing a few months ago! The wage continuation error is super common. Here's what worked for me: When you call (and yes, you'll need to call), be very clear that you made an error on the initial form and need to correct the wage continuation question. They can actually update this in their system without you having to file a whole new claim. Also, if you have any documentation from your employer showing you didn't receive continued wages (like a final paystub or termination letter), have that ready. The whole process took about 2 weeks for me once I got through to someone. Don't give up - you've got this! 💪

•@Admin_Masters This is super helpful! I'm dealing with a similar wage continuation mix-up right now. Quick question - when you called, did you have to go through the appeal process first, or were they able to fix it directly? I'm worried I might have already started the wrong process by clicking the electronic appeal button.
