EDD claim disqualified without explanation - What to do next?
My unemployment claim got disqualified and I have no idea why. I checked online but there's no specific error code or message explaining the reason. Has anyone else dealt with this? What should I do next? I'm really stressed about this situation and could use some advice.

Ugh, that sucks! 😫 I've been there before. First thing you should do is gather all your documents - especially the Appeal Form (DE 1000A) and any Notices of Determination (DE 2514) you've received. You'll need those when you talk to EDD.

•Thanks for the advice! I'll definitely gather those documents. Do you know how long the appeal process usually takes?

•It can take a while, unfortunately. Mine took about 6 weeks, but I've heard of some taking up to 3 months. Just keep following up and don't give up!

•6 weeks?! 😱 I'm in the same boat and I can't wait that long. Any tips on speeding up the process?

Have you tried calling EDD? Sometimes they can give you more info over the phone that isn't shown online.

•I've been trying, but it's impossible to get through. Always busy or disconnected. 😞

•Pro tip: I found a way to actually get someone on the phone. Used this site called claimyr.com - it's a calling tool that dials the phone menu, stays on hold, and then connects you when a live agent picks up. Costs $20 but totally worth it. Here's a video about it: https://youtu.be/DOLxZQb92wM

Here's what you need to know about EDD disqualifications: 1. Common reasons: - Insufficient earnings in your base period - Voluntarily quitting without good cause - Misconduct at work - Refusing suitable work - Not being able and available for work 2. Appeal process: - File within 30 days of the Notice of Determination - Use the DE 1000M form or online system - Prepare evidence and witnesses 3. While waiting: - Keep certifying for benefits - Look for work and document your search - Consider applying for other assistance programs Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any questions.

•Wow, thank you so much for this detailed info! 🙏 I think it might be the 'able and available for work' part in my case. I had some health issues recently.

lol welcome to the wonderful world of EDD 🤡 where everything's made up and the rules don't matter

Have you checked if there were any recent policy changes? Sometimes they implement new rules and don't communicate them well. Might be worth looking into.

Ive been fighting with EDD for 6 months now. Its a nightmare. Heres what I learned: 1. Document EVERYTHING 2. Be persistent af 3. Reach out to your local assemblymember - they can sometimes help 4. Join Facebook groups for more support Dont give up!

•Seconding the assemblymember tip! They helped me resolve my issue in 2 weeks after months of getting nowhere with EDD directly.

plot twist: the EDD is actually run by a bunch of hamsters on wheels 🐹🎡

Anyone else think the whole system needs a complete overhaul? It's ridiculous how difficult they make it for people who are already struggling.

I went through something similar last year and it was incredibly frustrating! Here's what worked for me: 1. **Request your claim details in writing** - Send a formal request to EDD asking for the specific reason for disqualification. They're required to provide this. 2. **Check your UI Online account thoroughly** - Sometimes the reason is buried in the "Claim History" or "Messages" section that's easy to miss. 3. **File an appeal ASAP** - Even if you don't know the exact reason yet, you only have 30 days from the notice date. You can always provide more details later. 4. **Keep a detailed log** - Write down every phone call, every document you send, every interaction. This saved me during my appeal hearing. The most common reasons I've seen in this community are work separation issues (like they think you quit voluntarily) or not meeting the wage requirements. Don't lose hope - many people successfully overturn these decisions once they get their day in court! Feel free to DM me if you need help navigating the appeal process. We've all been there! 💪
