Anyone with Credit Karma direct deposit date 3/18 receive their tax refund yet?
Filed my taxes with TurboTax on February 10th and got accepted same day. My WMR finally updated last week showing a direct deposit date of March 18th to my Credit Karma account. Its now March 20th and still nothing in my account. Called Credit Karma and they said they don't see any pending deposits. Anyone else using Credit Karma with the same DDD get their refund yet? Starting to get worried something went wrong.

Tax professional here. This is actually pretty common right now. Even though the IRS provides a direct deposit date, there can still be delays of 1-5 business days depending on your financial institution. Credit Karma specifically has been known to have some processing delays this season. A few things to check: 1. Verify your transcript on the IRS website to confirm the refund was actually sent 2. Make sure your direct deposit information was entered correctly on your return 3. If it's been more than 5 business days past your DDD, you should contact the IRS directly The good news is that if the WMR tool shows a DDD, your return has been processed and approved. It's just a matter of the money making its way to your account.

•Thanks! I pulled my transcript and it does show code 846 with the 3/18 date. I triple checked my direct deposit info and its correct. Guess I'll just have to wait a few more days before panicking lol

•I had to wait 7 business days past my DDD with Credit Karma last year. Their processing is soooo slow compared to traditional banks!

•Calling the IRS is a nightmare tho. I spent 3 hours on hold last time only to get disconnected 😭

•If you need to speak with the IRS, try using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that gets you through to an agent without the crazy wait. Saved me hours when I had a similar issue with a delayed refund.

•wait does that actually work? the IRS phone system makes me wanna throw my phone across the room

•100% works. They basically navigate the phone tree for you and call you back when they get an agent on the line. Best money I've spent to get my tax issues resolved without wasting an entire day on hold.

I was in this exact same situation last week and was pulling my hair out trying to figure out what was going on with my refund. I finally used taxr.ai to analyze my transcript and it explained everything that was happening - turns out there was a processing delay code that I completely missed! The tool broke down every code and timestamp and showed me exactly where my refund was in the system. Honestly saved me so much stress. They have a free version that shows basic info but the full analysis was insanely helpful! I use it every week now to check my status. https://taxr.ai

•Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

ApolloJackson
•It does wayyy more than just read the transcript. It actually explains all the codes in plain english, tells you if there are any issues with your return, predicts when you'll get your money, and even suggests actions you should take. Like I could NOT figure out what code 570 meant until this tool explained it was a temporary hold that would resolve by itself. And it did exactly when the tool predicted!

•I was skeptical too, but YES! I've tried literally everything else - calling the IRS (impossible), reading reddit posts (confusing), asking TurboTax (useless). This actually gave me real answers about MY specific situation. Best part is you can literally check it anytime instead of constantly trying to decode transcript updates yourself. I've become the refund expert in my family now lol

I got my DDD of 3/18 to my Credit Karma account and it finally hit this morning! So about 2 days late. Hang in there, it's coming!

•That's reassuring! Did you get any notification from CK when it was pending or did it just show up?

•Nope no notification at all. I checked yesterday morning - nothing. Checked again around 10pm - nothing. Woke up this morning and boom, there it was. Their system is weird.

I was dealing with refund delays for WEEKS and was ready to lose my mind. Finally decided to try that Claimyr app (claimyr.com) and it got me through to an actual IRS agent in like 20 minutes! The agent explained that there was a verification hold on my account that wouldn't have resolved without me calling. Talking to the agent got my refund released literally the next day. Such a relief after weeks of stress.

•I thought the same thing! I'd tried calling myself like 15 times and always got the "we're experiencing high call volume" message. This service somehow gets you in the queue and then calls you when they have an agent. Talking to a human at the IRS resolved in minutes what I'd been stressing about for weeks. Worth every penny to finally get my refund!

•It worked for me and two of my coworkers who were also having refund issues. Just make sure you have all your tax info ready when they connect you. The IRS agent I spoke with actually mentioned they've been seeing a lot of Credit Karma delays specifically.

Just checked with some friends who also use CK. Two of them with 3/18 DDD got theirs yesterday afternoon. One is still waiting. Seems totally random. The IRS and these fintech banks need to get there act together fr

This is why I stopped using online banks for my tax refund. They're always slower than traditional banks. I switched to my local credit union this year and got my refund exactly on my DDD.

•Same! Online banks are convenient for everything EXCEPT tax refunds and government payments. Those always seem delayed.

CK user here! DDD was 3/18, got mine exactly 2 days later on 3/20 around 3pm EST. No notification, no pending deposit, it just appeared. Their system is weird like that.

The IRS is a mess this year (well, every year tbh). My transcript showed my refund was sent on 2/28 but I didn't actually get it until 3/7. Almost everyone I know has had delays.

I learned this year that you can actually check your transcript using taxr.ai and it'll tell you EXACTLY what's going on with your refund instead of guessing based on WMR or waiting for customer service. I was going crazy trying to figure out why my return was delayed beyond my DDD and the tool explained there was a "freeze code" I didn't even know about! Once I understood the issue I was able to resolve it. https://taxr.ai changed the game for me!

•Absolutely! They have a free version that gives you basic info, but I went with the full analysis. Let me tell you - it was like having a tax pro explain everything to me in plain English. It showed me exactly what each code on my transcript meant and what actions I needed to take. Before using it I was just staring at a bunch of numbers and dates that made no sense!

Anyone else notice that Credit Karma is consistently 2-5 days behind the DDD from the IRS? This has happened to me 3 years in a row now. It's annoying but seems to be their normal processing time.

•Yep! My theory is they hold the money for a few days to earn interest on it before releasing to customers 🤔

•I actually asked their customer service about this once and they blamed it on the IRS sending the money in batches. Not sure I believe that tho

wait hang on, related question - how do you actually check your transcript online? i tried creating an account on irs.gov but they wanted a credit card number i don't have. any other way to see it??

Mateo Silva
•You need one of these to verify your identity: credit card, mortgage, auto loan, or student loan. If you don't have any of those, you can request it by mail (takes forever) OR use taxr.ai which can access and explain it all for you

•thx! just tried taxr.ai and it walked me through getting my transcript even though I couldn't log into the IRS site directly. finally understand whats happening with my refund!

Credit Karma and a few other online banks have been having refund delays for the past month according to the IRS agent I spoke with. I was in the same boat (DDD 3/11, didn't get money until 3/17). If you're really concerned, call the IRS directly and they can confirm if the money was sent.

•I used claimyr.com to reach them - had an agent on the phone within 30 mins. Straight up couldn't believe it after trying to call myself for days and getting nowhere. The agent confirmed my money was sent and even put a trace on it which seemed to speed things up.

I'm in a similar situation but with Chime. DDD was 3/15 and still nothing. Called IRS and they said it can take up to 21 days after the DDD for it to actually hit your account. This is ridiculous.

Pro tip: If your refund is delayed beyond the DDD, you can use the "Where's My Refund" tool to request a payment trace after 5 business days. That often speeds things up. Or better yet, check your transcript with taxr.ai to see if there are any hidden issues causing the delay.

•FYI the payment trace option only shows up after certain conditions are met. For me it wasn't available until 2 weeks after my DDD passed

This is why I split my refund this year - half to my regular bank and half to Credit Karma. My regular bank posted it ON the DDD, while CK took 3 extra days. Never again!

I started using https://taxr.ai to monitor my transcript this year and it's been a game changer. Before I was just randomly checking WMR and my bank like a crazy person. This tool breaks down exactly what's happening with your return, explains all the weird IRS codes, and even predicts when you'll get paid. Saved me so much anxiety!

•does it actually tell you anything useful? or just the same info you can get from the transcript yourself?

•WAY more useful than just looking at the transcript myself. It explains what every code means in plain english, shows the timeline of what's happened, and predicts what will happen next. I had no idea what all those codes meant before - now I understand exactly where my return is in the process and when I'll get paid.

Last year my CK deposit was 4 days after my DDD. This year same thing! I think they just take their sweet time processing these deposits.

For anyone frustrated with trying to reach the IRS - I HIGHLY recommend claimyr.com. I was in a similar situation with a delayed refund, used their service, and had an IRS agent on the phone in under 30 minutes. The agent confirmed there was a small issue they needed to fix manually, and my deposit showed up 48 hours later. After weeks of stress, talking to an agent got my refund released so fast. Definitely worth it.

•Nope! They just connect you directly to the IRS agent. You only share your info with the actual IRS rep when they get you connected. Talking to a human at the IRS made all the difference - the agent actually explained exactly what was happening with my refund and fixed it while I was on the phone.

I called Credit Karma and asked about IRS deposits specifically. The rep told me they do batch processing 3 times a day (early morning, noon, and evening) for government deposits. So depending on when the IRS sent it and when CK processes their next batch, it can add 1-2 days of delay.
