Got 846 Code for March 26 Direct Deposit - Credit Karma Nothing Yet?

Has anyone actually received their direct deposit for the March 26 date with Credit Karma? I filed through TurboTax and my transcript shows the 846 code saying my refund was approved and scheduled for deposit, but nothing's hit my account yet. Shouldn't it have posted by now? Or is Credit Karma typically slower than other banks? Just wondering if I'm the only one still waiting or if this is normal...

The 846 code is definitely a good sign - it means your refund is approved and on its way! But here's the thing about bank processing times - they can be as unpredictable as my cat deciding when to knock things off my shelves. Credit Karma (and most online banks) typically takes 1-2 business days after the IRS release date to actually post the funds to your account. The March 26 date is when the IRS *sent* the money, not necessarily when it shows up in your account. I'd expect to see it by tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

So it's like when you mail a letter and it says 2-day delivery but sometimes takes 4? I've been refreshing my Credit Karma account like it's social media during a celebrity scandal. Just worried because I've never used them for tax refunds before.

I remember last year I had the same issue with Chime. Got the 846 code for a Tuesday, but didn't see the money until Thursday morning. Everyone was posting about getting theirs early while I was still waiting. Then boom - showed up without any notification. Previous years with traditional banks took even longer.

Credit Karma isn't a bank. They use MVB Bank. This matters. Adds processing time. Different from traditional banks. Usually a day or two delay.

Isn't this situation similar to what happened with some of the stimulus payments? People with traditional banks got them right away while online banks had those mysterious delays. Makes you wonder if there's something about how the Treasury Department routes these payments that affects certain financial institutions differently.

I had the exact same situation and found that understanding your transcript helps predict when you'll actually see the money. Here's what I did: 1. First, I checked my transcript using https://taxr.ai which helped decode what all those codes actually mean for my specific situation 2. The tool explained that the 846 date is when the IRS releases funds, not when banks process them 3. It showed me that Credit Karma typically takes 1-2 business days after the IRS release date 4. It also identified that my particular 846 code pattern suggested a normal processing timeline rather than a delay The transcript analysis helped me understand exactly where my money was in the process instead of just anxiously waiting.

Are you sure your direct deposit information is correct on your return? Have you double-checked that the routing and account numbers match your Credit Karma account? Sometimes a small typo can cause the deposit to be rejected, which would then trigger the IRS to mail a paper check instead. Could that possibly be what's happening here?

I'm wondering this too! My friend had this happen last year and didn't realize until weeks later that she had transposed two digits in her account number. The IRS eventually mailed her a check but it took almost a month longer.

Thank you for bringing this up! Just checked my TurboTax confirmation. Account info is correct. Need to rule out all possibilities. Clock is ticking on bills due next week!

If the account info is wrong, how long exactly does it take for the IRS to send a paper check? Is it 14 days after the electronic deposit fails or does it take longer? My transcript shows the 846 code with a March 26 date too.

Thanks for mentioning this! Just triple-checked my info and everything matches up. Really appreciate everyone helping troubleshoot this - makes the waiting game a little less stressful knowing I'm not alone in this situation.

I'm in the same boat with Credit Karma. The SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group) is TurboTax's processing bank that handles the refund before it goes to your bank account. If you paid your TurboTax fees from your refund, there's an extra processing step where SBTPG takes their cut before forwarding the remainder to Credit Karma. This adds about 24-48 hours to the timeline. You can check your SBTPG status at https://taxpayer.sbtpg.com to see if they've received and processed your refund yet.

After waiting 4 days past my 846 date last year, I finally called the IRS to figure out what was happening. Spent two hours on hold before giving up. Then found Claimyr (https://youtu.be/_kiP6q8DX5c) which got me through to an agent in about 15 minutes. The agent confirmed my deposit was sent but was being held by my bank's processing system. Called my bank right after and they released it same day. Sometimes you just need to talk to a human to get things moving.

You might want to check if Credit Karma has a specific policy about government deposits. Some online banks actually hold them for a bit longer than traditional banks, possibly for security reasons. I believe Credit Karma might also have a feature where you can see pending deposits before they're fully available - have you possibly looked in that section of your account? It might show up there first before hitting your available balance.

Has anyone checked if CK is having system issues rn? Their app was glitchy af for me yesterday and wouldn't show recent transactions. Could there be some tech problem on their end causing delays for everyone with the 3/26 DD date?

Be careful about assuming it's just a normal delay. I had a similar situation last year where my 846 code showed but no deposit came. Turned out there was an offset I didn't know about - the Treasury took part of my refund for an old student loan. You might want to call the TOP (Treasury Offset Program) at 800-304-3107 to make sure this isn't happening to you, especially if the delay continues beyond tomorrow.

Last year I was in exactly this situation with Credit Karma. Had an 846 code for March 22nd, but nothing showed up until March 24th. What was weird is that when it finally appeared, the transaction was backdated to the 22nd even though I'd been checking multiple times a day and it definitely wasn't there before! So don't be surprised if when yours does show up, it looks like it's been there since the 26th. Credit Karma has some quirky ways of displaying deposits sometimes.
