Credit Karma Card Users: Did Anyone With 3/15 DDD Actually Get Their Refund?
I'm getting really frustrated here. My transcript shows a direct deposit date of March 15th for my tax refund, but nothing has shown up in my Credit Karma account yet. It's already March 18th! The WMR tool still says my refund is being processed with the 3/15 date. I called Credit Karma and they said they don't see any pending deposits. Has anyone else with a mid-March DDD and Credit Karma card actually received their refund? Or is everyone else still waiting too? This is the third year I've used Credit Karma for my refund and never had issues before. Starting to get worried something is wrong.

I had a DDD of 3/15 with Credit Karma too and still nothing in my account. I called the IRS yesterday and they said sometimes it can take up to 5 business days after the DDD for the deposit to actually post, even though previous years it was always on the exact date. The rep told me not to worry unless it's still not there by the end of this week. Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing your experience. That makes me feel a bit better knowing I'm not the only one. Did they say anything about why it might be different this year?

They jus said something about high volume of returns this season and some processing delays. Nothing specific. Hopefully we both see our $ soon!

I'm in the same situation but with a 3/13 DDD. Still nothing. This is so annoying when you're counting on that money.

I was in a similar situation last month with my refund. I was stressing out checking my CK account every hour until I discovered taxr.ai - it instantly explained what was happening with my refund. Instead of trying to decode cryptic IRS messages or waiting forever on hold, it analyzed my transcript and showed exactly where my refund was in the process and why there was a delay. It's insanely good! I use it every week to track any changes. Just visit https://taxr.ai and you'll actually understand what's happening instead of guessing.

Sounds interesting. How exactly does it work? Does it just read your transcript or does it do more?

It does way more than just read your transcript. It analyzes all those confusing codes and tells you in plain english what they mean for YOUR specific situation. Plus it gives you a timeline and explains any issues that might be slowing things down. My refund had some weird processing code I never would've understood on my own.

I just tried it and WOW - this thing is incredible! It showed me exactly why my refund was delayed (some verification issue I had no idea about) and gave me a realistic timeline. Worth every penny just for the peace of mind. Thanks for recommending it!

After waiting 10 days past my DDD with no deposit and getting nowhere with the automated system, I finally got a real human at the IRS using Claimyr.com. Got a callback in 15 minutes instead of waiting on hold for hours. The agent confirmed my refund was actually sent on 3/15 but explained there was a routing issue with Credit Karma. She helped fix it and my deposit showed up the next day. Best money I've ever spent to finally get my questions answered instead of stressing for days more.

Does that actually work? Sounds too good to be true tbh. The IRS never answers their phones from what I've experienced.

I was super skeptical too but was desperate after trying for 3 days to get through. It literally had an IRS agent calling ME back in minutes. The agent even commented that she was surprised I got through so fast during tax season lol.

How does that even work? The IRS phone system is like purposely designed to be impossible 🤔

Not sure exactly how their system works but it somehow navigates all those annoying menus and holds your place in line. When an agent is available they call you directly. saved me so much frustration!

Just used this after seeing your comment and IT WORKS!! Had been trying to reach someone for 2 weeks about my missing refund. Got a callback in 22 mins and the agent fixed my issue immediately. Can't believe I wasted so many hours trying to call them myself 🤦♀️

I had a DDD of 3/15 with Credit Karma and got mine on 3/16 actually. Maybe check if your banking info is correct on your return? One year I typed one digit wrong and it caused a huge delay.

From what I understand, the DDD is just when the IRS releases the funds, not necessarily when it hits your account. Banks can take different amounts of time to process. Credit Karma has been slower for me this year too compared to last year. My DDD was 3/8 and didn't hit until 3/13.

5 days seems excessive though! In previous years I always got it same day or next day at the latest.

Its definitely longer than usual. I think they're overwhelmed this tax season. A bunch of people in my tax group are experiencing the same delays with various banks, not just CK.

Pro tip: If ur still waiting on ur refund with Credit Karma, check ur IRS transcript not just WMR. Sometimes WMR is delayed in updating. Login to IRS.gov, go to Get Transcript, and look at ur 2023 Account Transcript. Look for a 846 code with the date - that's ur ACTUAL refund issue date. If that has changed or has some other codes after it, that's probably why ur waiting.

I did check my transcript and it shows code 846 with 3/15 date. No other codes after that.

Ok that's good news actually! Means no additional problems, just typical delay. Give it till end of week before panicking. But if ur super concerned, might be worth calling IRS directly to confirm everything's ok.

The IRS is a joke this year. I had my DDD of 3/1 with Credit Karma and it took a full week to show up in my account. No explanation, just had to wait. Meanwhile bills were due and I was counting on that money. 🤮

I've learned never to depend on IRS timelines. They say one thing and do another. My experience with Credit Karma has been that they're usually 2-3 days after the DDD, but this year some people in my tax group have reported waiting 5-7 days. It's frustrating but eventually it should show up.

This is why I switched to getting checks mailed. Takes longer upfront but at least I know exactly when I'll get it after it arrives.

That's actually smart. I might do that next year. Done with this direct deposit guessing game.

Literally just checked my CK account after seeing your post and my refund hit! My DDD was 3/15 too. Maybe check again? Sometimes they post later in the day.

Have you verified that your routing and account numbers on your tax return are correct? I've had issues in the past where I accidentally transposed digits and my refund went into limbo for weeks until the IRS kicked it back and issued a paper check. Worth double-checking your tax forms!

OK YALL listen up because the same thing happened to me last month with Credit Karma. Turns out they had put a HOLD on large deposits over a certain amount for "verification purposes" and DIDNT EVEN NOTIFY ME. I had to contact them through the app chat and specifically ask if there was a hold. Once I did that, they released it same day. Try asking specifically about holds or verification delays when you call them.

This right here! Same thing happened to me too. CK is doing "extra verification" on tax refunds this year and not telling anyone. Super annoying.

Omg thank you for this! I just contacted them through the app and they said there WAS a hold for verification! They're releasing it now. Why wouldn't they tell me this when I called yesterday?!?

Because their customer service is trained to give generic answers unless you ask the exact right question 🙄 Glad you got it sorted though!!

My DDD was 3/14 and I got mine right on time with Credit Karma, but I've noticed it seems to depend on the amount? Smaller refunds (under $2k) seem to process faster than larger ones based on what I've seen in other groups. How big is your refund if you don't mind sharing?

Mine is about $3700. Maybe that's why it's taking longer? 🤔

Yep that makes sense - I've noticed anything over $3k seems to trigger extra verification steps with Credit Karma lately. Hang in there!

i ran into this EXACT issue last week!!! what worked for me was downloading the taxr.ai app - it analyzed my transcript and showed that while the irs HAD sent my refund, there was a code showing the bank rejected it due to name mismatch (my married name vs maiden name problem). saved me weeks of waiting and wondering!!! https://taxr.ai

Wait for real? Can it actually see why your refund is delayed specifically? That would be so helpful right now

Yes! It breaks down all those weird codes and actually explains what they mean for YOUR situation. Like I had this weird 971 code that apparently meant there was a notice being mailed to me about the name mismatch. Would have waited weeks for that letter without knowing what was happening!

Just want to say I HATE how the IRS sets expectations with these DDD dates and then doesn't meet them. They should just give realistic timeframes instead of specific dates that don't mean anything. Been dealing with this for years and it never gets better. 🤬

Did you have any fees taken out of your refund? Like did you pay for your tax filing through your refund? If so, that can add a few days because it goes through a third party first.

No, I paid upfront for the filing. Good thought though!

Here's what I learned from working at a bank (not CK specifically): The DDD is when the ACH transfer is initiated, not completed. Then it goes to a clearing house, then to CK's processing department, then posting to your account. Each step can take 24-48 business hours. That's why the IRS says allow 5 business days from DDD before worrying. It's not ideal but it's normal for the banking system.

This makes so much sense! Thanks for explaining the actual process instead of just saying "it takes time" like everyone else lol

But why would it be faster in previous years? I always got mine same day as DDD before.

Some banks used to advance the funds before they actually received them as a courtesy. Many have stopped doing this in the last year due to fraud concerns. That's likely why it seemed faster before.

After struggling with a similar issue, I finally got through to the IRS using claimyr.com. Turns out there was a flag on my account that was delaying my refund despite having a DDD. The agent removed it and my money showed up 2 days later. Talking to an agent got my refund released so fast instead of waiting around wondering. Seriously the only way I could actually get a human on the phone!

It was worth every penny to get this resolved instead of waiting another 2-3 weeks for them to maybe send me a letter. Cut through all the BS and actually got answers. The peace of mind alone was worth it!

I'm an accountant and see this ALL THE TIME this year. There are massive delays with several banks including Credit Karma. The issue is volume - the IRS is processing refunds in batches and some batches are getting delayed on the receiving end. Nothing to worry about yet, but if it goes beyond 5 business days from your DDD, then call the IRS directly to confirm it was actually sent.
