System won't let me claim ny unemployment benefits today - is this happening to anyone else?

same thing happened to me!! The system kept freezing at the last screen. I tried logging out and back in but then got the message saying I already certified. But the payment isnt showing up in my payment history so who knows if it actually went through. Ugh this happens like once every few months with this broken system 🤦‍♀️

After weeks of trying to reach someone on the phone and getting nowhere, I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me a callback with an actual human agent! Talking to the rep directly got my issue fixed in 10 minutes when I'd been struggling for weeks. It was the best investment I've made - got all my back payments released. The exact same thing is happening to me today. I tried multiple devices and browsers too. I think the ny unemployment site is having issues. If you look at their Twitter there's a bunch of people complaining about the same problem.

Could be maintenance? Sometimes they do system updates on sundays which is stupid since thats when most people certify. Try again in a few hours, and if it still says you already certified then you might be ok and it actually went through. The stupid system always lags on showing payment history.

I had this EXACT problem a few weeks ago. What worked for me was clearing my browser cookies/cache and trying again. If that doesn't work, you probably need to call them which is a total nightmare. Took me 4 days of constant calling to get through last time I had an issue.

Look, I've been dealing with NY unemployment system for over a year now through multiple claim issues. Here's what you need to know: When you get the "certification already in process" error, it usually means one of three things: 1) The system actually DID accept your claim but glitched on the confirmation screen. Give it 24 hours and check your payment history. 2) There might be an issue with your specific claim that requires manual review. This happens randomly and for stupid reasons. 3) The entire system is having problems, which happens AT LEAST once a month, usually on Sundays when everyone's certifying. If your payment doesn't show as pending by tomorrow afternoon, you NEED to call them. Don't wait or you could miss a week. The regular number is useless - I've had success using claimyr.com to get through to an agent quickly. It costs money but saved me from missing payments when my account got flagged for review. Also document EVERYTHING. Take screenshots, note the time/date of your attempts, and what error messages you get. You might need this if they try to say you didn't certify on time. The NY unemployment system is still struggling with the volume of claims even now. Hang in there!

The ny unemployment site is literally the worst government website ive ever used. And thats saying alot. 😂 Its down more than its working I swear

maybe try using a diffrent browser? i was having issues with chrome but it worked fine in firefox for some reason

This is like the THIRD time this has happened in the past 2 months! They really need to upgrade their system but you know they never will. I've found that if you try certifying very early in the morning (like 6am) or late at night (after 10pm) the system works way better with fewer glitches.

Have you tried the mobile app? Sometimes when the website is glitching the app still works. Or vice versa.
