NY unemployment claim disappeared - no 'already claimed benefits' message after claiming yesterday
Is anyone else experiencing this? I certified for my NY unemployment benefits yesterday (Sunday) like usual, and everything seemed normal. But today when I logged back in to check something, the system isn't showing the usual 'You have already claimed weekly benefits' message. Also, my payment history isn't showing any pending payment for this week. Usually by Monday morning I can see the payment is at least processing. Did I somehow mess up my certification? Is the system glitching? I really need this money to come through on time this week.

dont panic yet the system does weird things sometimes. i've seen it take up to 48 hrs to show in the system especially after holidays or when they do updates

•Thanks for responding. There wasn't a holiday yesterday though, and I haven't gotten any emails about system updates. I'm worried my claim didn't go through properly.

This happened to me last month. The system was experiencing high volume that weekend and many claims had processing delays. When did you certify exactly? Sometimes if you certify late Sunday, it doesn't process until their overnight batch runs. Check again tomorrow morning - most likely your certification will appear then. If it doesn't show up by Wednesday, that's when you should contact NYSDOL.

•I certified around 8am on Sunday, so pretty early. I've been claiming at the same time for months with no issues before. Will check again tomorrow morning though, thanks.

OMG SAME THING HERE!!!! I claimed yesterday morning and now nothing shows up! Is this happening to everyone?? I called the automated line and it says I have no payment history for this week either. I'm freaking out because my rent is due Friday and I NEED this money!!!

•The automated phone system sometimes updates before the website. Did it give you an option to certify again? If not, your claim was probably recorded but just isn't displaying correctly.

This is a known issue that happens occasionally with the NY unemployment system. There are a few things to check: 1. Look for a confirmation number in your email. If you received one after certifying, your claim was recorded. 2. Check if you can claim benefits again today. If the system allows you to certify again, it means your previous certification wasn't recorded. 3. The NYSDOL sometimes runs system maintenance on Sundays that can delay processing until Tuesday. In most cases, this resolves itself within 48 hours. If you don't see your payment pending by Wednesday morning, that's when you should try contacting NYSDOL directly.

•I didn't get any confirmation email, which is making me nervous. And when I try to certify again, it says I've already certified for the week. So the system knows I certified, but isn't showing the pending payment. I'll wait until Wednesday as suggested.

I went through this exact situation last month and spent HOURS trying to get through to someone at NYSDOL. After trying the regular number for days with no luck, I found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me connected to an agent in under 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE Turns out there was a verification flag on my account that was holding up my payment. The agent fixed it right away and my payment processed that night. Might be worth trying if your payment doesn't show up by Wednesday.

Does anyone know if there are system updates happening? I swear they ALWAYS do these things without warning us. Last time they updated the website I couldn't log in for 3 days! So typical of NY unemployment to just leave us hanging!!!

•I haven't seen any official notifications about system updates this week. Sometimes they post notices on the main page before logging in - did you check there?

UPDATE: Just checked this morning and the payment is now showing as pending! Looks like it was just delayed processing. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance.

•Great news! Glad to hear it resolved itself. This is typical - the system sometimes has delays but usually catches up within 24-48 hours.

This is such a relief to see! I'm a new claimant and was getting really worried when I saw similar posts about the system glitches. It's good to know that delays like this are somewhat normal and usually resolve within a day or two. Thanks for posting the update - it helps those of us who are still learning how the NY unemployment system works!

•@Wesley Hallow Welcome to the community! Yeah, as a fellow newcomer to NY unemployment, these kinds of system hiccups can be really scary when you re'depending on the payments. I ve'learned from reading posts here that the system has quirks but usually works itself out. It s'definitely helpful to have a community where people share their experiences - makes you feel less alone when these glitches happen!

I'm also new to the NY unemployment system and this thread has been incredibly helpful! I just started claiming a few weeks ago and seeing posts like this made me realize these system glitches are more common than I thought. It's reassuring to know there's a community here where people share their experiences and help each other out. The advice about waiting 48 hours before panicking and checking for confirmation emails is really valuable for newcomers like me who don't know what's normal yet. Thanks everyone for sharing your knowledge!

•@Philip Cowan I m'also pretty new to all this and I totally agree - this community has been a lifesaver! When I first started claiming, every little thing would stress me out because I had no idea what was normal. Posts like Emma s'really help because you realize these glitches happen to everyone, not just you. The 48-hour rule is definitely something I m'going to remember. It s'amazing how much more confident you feel when you have people who ve'been through it before sharing their experiences!
