NY unemployment weekly claim not posting after multiple attempts - system glitch?
Is anyone else having issues with their weekly NY unemployment certification not actually posting to the system? I've claimed my benefits TWICE already this week and it's still not showing up in my payment history! The system says my claim went through each time, but when I check my payment status—nothing! No pending payments, no processing, just... nothing. I'm starting to panic because I really need this money. Has the NYSDOL system been glitching lately or is it just me? 😩😩😩

This happened to me last month. Try checking if you got an email confirmation after certifying. If you did, the system registered your claim even if it's not showing up in payment history yet. Sometimes there's a 24-48 hour delay before it appears in your payment history. Also make sure you're answering all the certification questions correctly - one wrong answer can hold everything up.

•I got the confirmation screen both times but no email... I double-checked my spam folder too. It's been 3 days since my first attempt! Should I try certifying a THIRD time or would that mess things up worse?

•Nope, answered everything exactly the same as every other week. Available for work, actively looking, didn't refuse any work, didn't work any hours... all the usual answers.

I experienced something similar two weeks ago. The system has been EXTREMELY glitchy since their latest update in January 2025. What worked for me was logging in from a different device. I tried on my laptop after my phone attempts failed, and somehow that worked! Also, try certifying during off-peak hours (early morning or late evening).

•I had the exact same problem!!! The mobile site is trash lately. Desktop version works way better.

This is likely a processing delay due to the system maintenance they've been doing. Don't certify again as multiple certifications can trigger a fraud alert. Instead, call the NYSDOL directly to check on your claim status. Your certification is probably in their system but just not showing up on your end. If you need to speak with an agent, I'd recommend trying Claimyr (claimyr.com). I was dealing with a similar issue last month and couldn't get through on the regular number after days of trying. Claimyr got me connected to a NYSDOL agent in about 30 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE The agent I spoke with was able to see my certifications in their system even though they weren't showing up in my payment history yet.

•Thanks for the suggestion! I've been trying to call for two days straight with no luck. I'll check out that service - at this point I just need to talk to a real person who can tell me what's going on.

anybody else notice that this happens around holidays? my theory is they slow down payments on purpose when they're short on funds. happens EVERY year around tax season too. just saying...

•That's not accurate. Payment processing timeframes are regulated by state law and don't change seasonally. What you're experiencing is likely the normal processing variations that happen throughout the year. The NYSDOL doesn't manipulate payment schedules based on their fund levels.

UPDATE: Finally got through to someone using that Claimyr service! They connected me to an agent in like 20 minutes when I'd been trying for days. The agent said there was a system flag on my account because of the duplicate certification attempts. They fixed it and my payment should process with tomorrow's batch. So relieved!

For anyone else experiencing this issue, here's what might be happening: 1. System maintenance - NYSDOL typically runs updates on weekends and Wednesday nights which can delay processing 2. Duplicate certifications - as OP discovered, this can trigger automatic flags in the system 3. Browser/cache issues - try clearing your cache or using a different browser/device 4. Question response flags - certain answers automatically trigger reviews If your certification doesn't appear after 3 business days, calling is your best option. Document the date/time of your certification attempts and take screenshots if possible. This will help when speaking with representatives.

•Thanks for posting this! I was about to certify a second time because mine isn't showing up either but now I'll just wait and try calling instead.

Glad you got it resolved! For future reference, the best practice is to wait at least 3 business days before attempting to certify again or contact them. Their system runs batch processing that sometimes takes a few days to complete, especially around system maintenance periods.

•Definitely learned my lesson! The agent told me the same thing about waiting 3 business days. Will remember that for next time, though hopefully there won't BE a next time with this particular issue!

Just wanted to add that I've been dealing with similar issues for the past month. The NY unemployment system has definitely been more unstable since their January update. I've found that using incognito/private browsing mode sometimes helps when the regular browser isn't working. Also, if you're using a mobile device, try switching to desktop - the mobile version seems to have more glitches. One tip that worked for me: after certifying, I always take a screenshot of the confirmation page AND write down the confirmation number if they give you one. It's saved me twice when having to call and prove I actually submitted my certification. Hope this helps others avoid the stress you went through!
