NY unemployment payment missing after certification - no option to recertify

I certified for my weekly NY unemployment payment last Wednesday and still haven't received anything in my account. When I went back online yesterday to try certifying again (thinking maybe I made a mistake), that option wasn't even available - which makes sense since I already claimed for that week. But I'm stressed because I never got the payment! Has anyone else had this problem recently? Is there a delay in the system or something I should do? This is the first time I've had an issue with my weekly payment not showing up.

Happened to me 2 weeks ago. The system is ALWAYS having problems lately!!! Could be the payment is delayed because of the holiday - are we near one? Or maybe they're doing system upgrades AGAIN. Try checking your payment history section to see if it shows as 'pending' or 'processed' at least?

Thanks for responding! I checked the payment history and it shows 'pending' from Wednesday, but it's been 5 days now. Usually it processes within 2-3 days max. No holidays that I know of...

This is fairly common right now. There are a few things to check: 1. Look at your payment history - does it show as pending or processed? 2. Check if you received any messages in your account inbox 3. Verify your direct deposit information hasn't changed If everything looks correct and it's been more than 3 business days, there could be a hold on your account that requires verification. Unfortunately, you'll likely need to speak with a representative to resolve this.

Thanks for the detailed response. I checked all three things you mentioned. Payment history says 'pending', no messages in my inbox, and my direct deposit info is still correct. It's been 5 days now, so I guess I need to talk to someone. But every time I call I just get the automated system that tells me nothing helpful.

my payment was also late last week. took like 5 days instead of the usual 2. didnt get any notification or anything, just randomly showed up in my account yesterday. maybe just wait another day or two?

That's somewhat reassuring. Maybe there's just a backlog or something. I'll give it another day or two before really panicking.

Ugh I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now!!! Certified last Wednesday, payment still says pending, no money in my account. I've been unemployed for 3 months and this is the first time this has happened. I'm literally down to my last $27 and rent is due Friday. Have you tried calling them? I've been trying but can't get through - just endless hold times then disconnected. This is so stressful!!!

Yes! I've tried calling multiple times but can't get through either. It's incredibly frustrating. I'm sorry you're in the same boat. If my payment comes through before yours I'll update here to let you know.

This is happening to a lot of people right now. There was a system update last week that has caused some payment processing delays. From what I'm seeing, most payments are going through after 5-7 business days instead of the usual 2-3. If your payment history shows 'pending,' that's actually a good sign - it means the system has registered your certification. If it still hasn't processed by Friday (which would be 7 business days), then you should definitely contact them directly. One thing to check: did you answer any certification questions differently this week than you usually do? Even minor changes like reporting a job interview can trigger a review.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! That makes me feel better knowing it's a system-wide issue. I didn't answer any questions differently from usual, so hopefully it's just the delay you mentioned. I'll wait until Friday before really worrying.

I had this exact problem last month. Called for 3 days straight and couldn't get through to anyone. Finally used Claimyr (claimyr.com) to get past the phone tree and connected to an agent in about 20 minutes. They explained there was a verification flag on my account that was holding up payment. The agent removed it while I was on the phone and my payment processed the next day. You can see how it works in their video demo: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE - saved me hours of frustration and missed calls.

is that a legit service? seems sketchy to pay someone just to make a phone call for you...

Yeah it's legitimate. I was skeptical too at first but I was desperate after days of not getting through. They just help you bypass the hold times - you still talk directly to the unemployment office yourself. The agent I spoke with had no issues with how I got connected.

sometime the online system glitches out but still shows everything normal on your end. happened to me in january, had to call and the agent said my certification went thru on their end but got stuck in processing limbo. they fixed it right away once i actually got someone on the phone.

That's really helpful to know, thanks! Sounds like calling is definitely my best option. Just need to actually get through to someone.

Based on your responses, it sounds like there's likely a verification flag or processing issue that needs manual intervention. Unfortunately, this is becoming increasingly common with the NY unemployment system in 2025. If your payment is still showing as 'pending' after 5 business days, I strongly recommend speaking with a representative directly. While there may be system-wide delays as others have mentioned, it's better to address potential account-specific issues sooner rather than later, especially if you depend on these payments.

You're right. I'll try calling again tomorrow morning right when they open. Hopefully I can get through. Thanks for all the help!

UPDATE: My payment finally processed! It took 6 business days instead of the usual 2-3. When I checked my account this morning, the status had changed from 'pending' to 'processed' and the money was in my bank account about 2 hours later. Looks like it was just a delay in their system processing. Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

That's great news! Mine is still pending but this gives me hope. Fingers crossed it comes through tomorrow!

Thanks for the update! Glad to hear it resolved itself. This confirms what I was seeing with the system update delays. For anyone else reading this thread with similar issues, it seems the current processing time is about 6 business days.

I'm dealing with something similar right now - certified on Monday and it's been 4 business days with no payment. My status also shows 'pending' but after reading through this thread I'm feeling more optimistic that it's just the system delays everyone is mentioning. It's frustrating because I budget around getting my payment within 2-3 days like usual. @Asher glad yours finally came through! Hopefully mine processes tomorrow or Friday. This is really helpful info for anyone else experiencing delays.
