NY unemployment payment not showing in history after certifying yesterday - help needed

I'm freaking out a little bit. I certified for my NY unemployment benefits yesterday as usual, but now I'm confused because it's not showing up in my payment history. The system says my latest certified benefit was for the week ending 03/12/2025, but nothing is showing up in the payment section. Has anyone experienced this before? Is there some kind of delay happening right now? I really depend on these payments and can't afford any holdups.

This happens sometimes when there's a processing delay in the system. Usually it shows up within 24-48 hours. The NYSDOL system typically processes claims in batches, and sometimes yours just gets caught in a later batch. I wouldn't worry yet - wait until tomorrow afternoon before getting too concerned.

Thanks for replying. That's a relief to hear! Do you know if I should do anything in the meantime? Like should I try to certify again or would that mess things up?

So I shouldn't worry yet? Did you have to call them or anything? I'm just nervous because I have rent due next week.

I've seen this happen a few times lately. There are actually two possibilities: 1) There's a processing delay, which usually resolves itself within 48 hours 2) There might be an issue with your claim that needs review If it doesn't appear by tomorrow evening, you should definitely try to contact NYSDOL. The key is to check if your payment status says "pending" or if it shows nothing at all. "Pending" usually means it's just delayed.

It just says nothing at all - that's what's worrying me. There's no pending status or anything. Just nothing for this week. Should I be trying to call them now instead of waiting?

If there's no pending status, I would recommend calling NYSDOL now rather than waiting. When there's no record at all, it sometimes means your certification didn't properly submit in the system. It could be a simple fix, but you'll want to get ahead of it. The challenge is actually getting through to someone on the phone.

Ugh, I was afraid of that. Every time I've tried calling before it's been HOURS of waiting. Sometimes I just give up because I can't stay on hold all day with my toddler running around.

I bet they're just backed up again!! My brother-in-law had something similar happen and he just got paid like normal on the regular day even though the website didn't update right away. The website is trash honestly

This EXACT thing happened to me last month. Certified on Sunday, nothing in the payment history by Tuesday. Called for THREE DAYS and couldn't get through - just constant busy signals and disconnects. Finally got through on Thursday and they told me there was a "flag" on my account for "additional review" even though I've been on unemployment for 4 months with no changes!!! The whole system is designed to make us give up!!!

Oh no, that's exactly what I'm worried about. Did you get your payment eventually? How long did it take after you talked to someone?

Yeah I got paid the next day after talking to someone. They just had to remove the flag. BUT getting through was a nightmare - I missed picking up my kid from school because I was afraid to hang up after being on hold for 2 hours.

When I had this issue last month, I tried for days to get someone on the phone with no luck. Then I found this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an agent in under 20 minutes. They basically call for you and when they reach an agent, they connect you. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE It was worth it for me because I had a similar situation where my certification wasn't showing up, and it turned out there was a small issue they fixed right away. Would have lost a whole week's payment if I hadn't gotten through.

I'm going to try calling first thing tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I might try that Claimyr thing. I just can't miss this payment - I have bills due and my savings are basically gone at this point.

Just to give you some more information - make sure when you call that you have your NY.gov ID and PIN ready, plus the last 4 of your social and your zip code. They'll ask for all of that before they can help you. And if they say there was an issue with your certification, ask them to help you re-certify on the phone. They can sometimes do that and get it processed right away rather than making you wait until next week.

Thank you! That's really helpful to know. I'll definitely have all that information ready.

One more thing to check - log out completely from your account and log back in. Sometimes the system has display issues that can be fixed by a fresh login. Also, try checking on a different device if possible. I've seen cases where the mobile site shows different information than the desktop site.

Just tried logging out and back in, and even checked on my phone instead of laptop. Still nothing showing up. I think I'm definitely going to need to call them tomorrow.

UPDATE: I finally got through to NYSDOL this morning! Turns out there was a "verification hold" on my account because my employer submitted some information late. The agent removed the hold and said my payment should process within 24-48 hours. She also said this has been happening a lot lately because of some system update they did in February. Thanks everyone for your help!

That's great news! Glad you got it resolved. This is actually a common issue after their system updates. For anyone else reading this in the future - if your payment doesn't show up after certification, call sooner rather than later. These verification holds can be removed quickly by an agent but won't fix themselves automatically.

So glad you got this sorted out! This is really helpful information for others who might face the same issue. It's frustrating that these verification holds happen automatically but can't be resolved automatically - seems like the system could be designed better. Thanks for updating us on what happened!

Absolutely agree that the system design could be so much better! It's crazy that they can detect issues automatically but require manual intervention to fix them. At least now we know that if certification doesn't show up right away, it's worth calling ASAP rather than waiting around hoping it resolves itself. Thanks for sharing the update @Aaron Boston - this thread will definitely help others in the same situation!

This is such valuable information! I'm bookmarking this thread because I've had similar scares before where my certification seemed to disappear into the void. It's really reassuring to know that these verification holds can be resolved quickly once you actually get through to someone. The frustrating part is that the system creates these holds automatically but then requires human intervention to fix them - seems like they could at least send an email notification when a hold is placed so we're not left guessing what happened. Thanks for following up with the resolution @Aaron Boston!

Completely agree about the notification issue! I'm new here but dealing with similar uncertainty right now - my certification from two days ago isn't showing either. This whole thread has been incredibly helpful, especially knowing that verification holds are apparently common after their February update. @Aaron Boston thanks so much for sharing your resolution, it gives me hope that mine might be a similar quick fix once I can actually get through to someone. Going to try calling tomorrow morning with all my info ready like @Brandon Parker suggested!

@Hannah Flores I hope you get through quickly tomorrow! Based on what happened with @Aaron Boston, it sounds like these verification holds from the February system update are creating a lot of confusion but are relatively easy to fix once you reach an agent. One tip I'd add - if you get disconnected while on hold (which happens way too often with NYSDOL), don't give up! Sometimes calling back immediately gets you into a shorter queue. Also, if tomorrow doesn't work out, that Claimyr service @Nathaniel Mikhaylov mentioned might be worth trying - anything to avoid losing a week's payment over a system glitch that could be fixed in 5 minutes by an agent.

@Zara Shah That s'really good advice about calling back immediately if you get disconnected! I didn t'know that could put you in a shorter queue. I m'definitely going to try calling first thing in the morning and keep that tip in mind. It s'so frustrating that we have to develop all these workarounds just to get basic help with our benefits, but I m'grateful for communities like this where people share what actually works. Fingers crossed I can get this resolved quickly like @Aaron Boston did!
