Did anyone else certify on 10/15 but NY unemployment shows no payment processing? Freaking out!
So I certified for my weekly unemployment benefits on Tuesday 10/15 like I always do, and usually the payment hits my account by Thursday or Friday at the latest. It's now Sunday and when I check my payment history, there's nothing showing for this week! No pending payment, no release date, nothing. The website just shows my last payment from the previous week. I've been collecting benefits for about 3 months with zero issues until now. Called the automated line and it says I successfully certified but no info about a payment. Is the system having problems or did something happen with my claim? Anyone else experiencing this delay with ny unemployment this week? Getting worried since I need this money for rent!

Same thing happened to me last week! I certified on Monday and didnt get payment till the NEXT monday. Never had that kinda delay before. When I finally got thru on the phone they said something about a system update causing delays. Just keep checking ur payment history daily, it should show up eventually.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Was there anything you had to do to make the payment go through? Or did it just randomly appear after a week?

It just showed up on its own. No explanation or anything. Just random delay. The whole system is so annoying rn.

After trying to call for 2 days straight and never getting through, I found this service called Claimyr that got me connected to an actual person at unemployment! They call and wait on hold, then connect you when an agent picks up. Used them yesterday and got my payment issue fixed in 15 minutes after talking to an agent. Best money I've spent to get my benefits flowing again! Here's a video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

is this for real? sounds too good to be true. how does it even work?

Yeah it's totally real! I was skeptical too at first. They basically have a system that calls repeatedly and then when someone finally picks up, it calls your phone and connects you. Saved me from having to call 50+ times myself. Check out claimyr.com

another day, another company promising to fix the unfixable unemployment system lol... did this actually help you get your payment processed?

It did! The agent I spoke with was able to see that my certification had been flagged for some random verification (which is why it was delayed) and they pushed it through immediately. Would've never known that without talking to someone.

how long did you have to wait for the callback? and was the agent nice or did they rush you?

I got the callback in about 45 mins. Agent was actually pretty helpful, didn't rush me at all. They even stayed on to make sure payment was released properly. Way better than the usual unemployment call experience!

Anyone noticing the delay happening more at the end of the month? My theory is they're stretching out the budget by delaying payments. Last month same thing happened to me in the last week, but first 3 weeks were fine 🤔

My payment was delayed because I accidentally answered one of the certification questions wrong (said I turned down work when I meant to say no). Might be worth checking if you made a mistake in your certification. You should call them asap before it turns into a bigger issue.

I'm pretty sure I answered everything correctly, been doing it the same way every week. But I guess I could have made a mistake without realizing it.

this happened to me twice in the past month 😫 both times the payment randomly showed up 5-7 days late. NY unemployment is a total mess right now... they've got staff shortages + budget issues + ancient computer systems = complete disaster

OMG this! 👆 My friend works there and says they're using a computer system from like the 80s. Like legit ancient tech running billions in payments!

Look at your certification dates in payment history. If there's ANY gap (like you missed a week) or you certified for multiple weeks at once, that can trigger a delay. The system flags it for manual review.

No gaps that I can see. Been certifying consistently every Tuesday since I started claiming.

Here's what's ACTUALLY happening with NY unemployment right now (I've dealt with this system for 18 months): They're doing quarterly reviews on many accounts, which causes temporary payment holds. This happens every 3 months like clockwork. They verify your ongoing eligibility, check for any unreported income, and make sure you're still actively looking for work. This process usually causes 1-2 week delays. Your best options: 1. Keep certifying as normal even if payments aren't showing up 2. Document EVERYTHING - screenshots of your certifications, job search activities, etc. 3. If it goes beyond 10 days with no payment, you NEED to speak with an agent (good luck getting through on regular phone lines) 4. Try using claimyr.com to get a callback from an agent - it's the only reliable way I've found to get someone on the phone 5. Check your email/mail for any notices from unemployment - sometimes they send requests for additional info Don't panic yet - this is unfortunately normal with their system lately. But definitely don't wait too long before taking action.

Thank you for such a detailed response! I'm coming up on 3 months of benefits so this makes perfect sense. I'll try to get through to someone tomorrow if it doesn't resolve itself.

This is accurate. Happened to me at exactly 3 months too. Such a stupid system.

yep, quarterly reviews are a THING and nobody tells you about them until you're suddenly not getting paid! classic unemployment department communication 🙄

they might have randomly selected u for identity verification. happened to me last month and payment was held for no reason. had to upload my license and ssn card to the portal again even tho they already had it 🤦♀️

This! They're doing random verification checks more often now because of fraud. Check your online portal for any message requests.

When this happened to you, was there any notification or did you just have to figure it out yourself?

Might be worth checking if your benefit year is ending. That can cause payment interruptions while they review your claim. Log in and look at your claim details.

have you tried logging out and logging back in? sounds stupid but sometimes the payment history doesn't update properly unless you do a full refresh of your account.
