NY unemployment payment not showing after certifying - anyone else?

Yesterday I certified my weekly benefits but when I checked my payment history today, there's no sign of it. Usually my payments show up in the system within hours after certifying. It's been over 24 hours now and still nothing. The website says my claim is active and I didn't get any error messages during certification. I'm getting worried because my rent is due next week and I'm counting on this money. I tried calling but got the usual automated message saying high call volume. Is the system having issues or should I be concerned? Is anyone else experiencing delays with their payments showing up in the system after certifying this week?

This happened to me last month. I certified on Sunday but it didn't show in payment history until Wednesday! apparently there was some kind of system update they were doing. Dont panic yet, give it another day or two before you start freaking out.

Thanks for the reply! Did you get any kind of notification about the update? I'm just paranoid because last time my payment was late it was because they needed additional info.

0 coins

Nope, no notification whatsoever. The system is a total mess. I only found out about the update when I finally got thru to an agent. They really need to communicate better.

the NYSDOL website is ALWAYS having "technical difficulties" lol. They should just put that as their permanent status 🤡

After weeks of getting nowhere with the phone system, I finally discovered Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got a callback with a real human! Talking to the agent fixed my payment issue quickly. Seriously saved my sanity and got my money flowing again. Check out their explainer: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

How does this claimyr thing work? Is it actually effective or just another scam targeting desperate unemployed people?

It basically calls NYSDOL for you and stays on hold, then connects you when a human answers. It worked for me after I spent days trying myself. The agent resolved my payment issue in minutes once I got through.

wait hold up - does this actually work or is it just the usual BS? i've been trying to reach someone for 2 weeks 😩

It worked for me! I was super skeptical too but I was desperate. Got connected to an agent within a couple hours - way better than the days I wasted trying myself. My payments started again 2 days later.

Same exact thing for me!!! Certified tuesday, nothing showing up today. System is probably backed up or glitching again. ny unemployment tech is from like 1995 i swear

i've learned there are all kinds of weird little things that can flag ur account for review... did u work any hours this week? report any income? change anything in ur certification? sometimes even tiny changes can trigger a hold

I did pick up a small gig job last week and reported it. Maybe that's why? But I've reported part-time work before without issues...

That could definitely be it. Sometimes the system flags ANY change for manual review. Super annoying but happens randomly. You might need to talk to someone to clear it.

yhea the system is basically designed to make u give up. they make it so complicated on purpose i swear

There's maintenance happening this week according to their Twitter. They didn't announce it widely but someone posted about it in another thread here. Supposedly payments will process but with 1-2 day delays.

Thank you! I don't use Twitter so I hadn't seen that. That makes me feel better.

Have you checked if your bank is maybe the issue? Sometimes my payment shows in the unemployment system but not in my actual bank for like 3 days. The whole direct deposit thing can be slow AF

That's not it - the payment isn't even showing up in the NY unemployment payment history section. It's like I never certified at all 😞

I'm going through the EXACT same issue right now. I certified two days ago and it's still not showing up. I need to pay my car insurance by Friday and I'm starting to panic. Has anyone actually gotten through to a rep to ask what's going on???

I got through using claimyr.com when I had payment issues last month. Worth every penny I spent because I got my money unlocked after one conversation with an agent.

Really? How fast did they actually get you connected? I'm desperate at this point.

For me it was about an hour and a half of wait time, but I didn't have to actively wait on the phone - they called me when an agent was on the line. Way better than the 200+ calls I was making myself with no luck.

Look for any messages in your inbox on the unemployment portal. Sometimes they send requirements there without emailing you. I missed one for THREE WEEKS and couldn't figure out why my payments stopped. Check your message center!

This is actually a widespread issue right now. I'm in a Facebook group for NY unemployment and TONS of people are reporting the same thing this week. Someone who got through to a rep said they're having database issues and payments will be delayed 2-3 days but will process automatically.

That's really helpful to know, thanks! Did they say if we need to do anything or just wait?

Just wait according to what they said. Apparently trying to recertify or fix it might actually cause more problems in the system.

Honestly, speaking to an agent is the only guaranteed way to resolve payment issues. The system has so many glitches that sometimes only a human can override and fix them. I was in payment limbo for THREE WEEKS until I finally got through to someone who fixed it in literally 2 minutes. Here's what I recommend: 1. Keep trying to call early in the morning (7:30am) when they first open 2. Try the alternate phone numbers (some are less busy) 3. Use claimyr.com - this was actually what worked for me after countless failed attempts. They handle the calling and waiting, then connect you with a live agent 4. Document everything - dates you certified, confirmation numbers, etc. 5. Check your message inbox daily for any communications 6. Make sure your direct deposit info is correct Don't just assume it will resolve itself if it goes more than 3 days without showing in payment history. The system rarely fixes itself without human intervention. Good luck! The NY unemployment system is truly broken, but once you get a human on the line, most issues can be resolved quickly.

I second the Claimyr recommendation! Used it twice now, both times got through when I couldn't on my own. claimyr.com saved me from eviction basically.

Thanks for the detailed advice. I'll try calling once more tomorrow morning before looking into Claimyr.

I had a weird issue last month where my certification didn't show up for 4 days, then suddenly 2 weeks of payments hit at once. The system is SO glitchy. If you're desperate for cash while you wait, try checking r/borrow or look into Earnin app for an advance.

could be id theft. someone might have gotten into ur account and changed ur payment info. happened to my cousin last year and it was a NIGHTMARE to fix. check that all ur personal info is still correct in the system!!

Oh god I hadn't even thought of that possibility. Now I'm even more worried 😰

Don't panic yet! That's pretty rare. System glitches are way more common. Login and check if your payment method and personal info is still correct before assuming the worst.

did you answer anything differently during certification? even tiny changes can trigger a review. also, what day did u certify? if u did it later than usual that can affect timing too

I certified at the same time as usual, but I did report some part-time income this week that I hadn't in previous weeks.

are you getting the debit card or direct deposit? the debit card is always slower and sometimes the website doesn't update even though the money is there.

I'm on day 5 of my payment not showing up... called 87 times yesterday with no luck getting through. This is absolutely insane. How are people supposed to survive??

After trying for days like you, I finally used claimyr.com and got through to someone. Might be worth it if you're desperate. My issue was fixed in one call once I actually talked to a human.

I'm gonna check that out right now. Nothing else is working and I'm about to lose my mind 😤

I'm dealing with the exact same issue! Certified on Monday and it's now Thursday with nothing showing up in my payment history. This is so stressful when you're relying on these payments for basic needs. Reading through all these comments, it sounds like there are multiple things that could be causing this - system maintenance, database issues, or flags from reporting income changes. I'm going to check my message center first like someone suggested, then maybe try calling early tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I might have to look into that Claimyr service everyone's mentioning. It's ridiculous that we have to jump through so many hoops just to get our rightful benefits processed. Hang in there everyone - hopefully this gets resolved soon for all of us!

Same boat here! I certified Tuesday and still nothing showing up. It's such a relief to know I'm not the only one going through this right now. The stress is unreal when you're counting on that money for rent and groceries. I'm definitely going to check my message center first thing tomorrow - hadn't thought of that. If there's really widespread database issues like people are saying, hopefully they'll get it sorted out soon. Thanks for summarizing all the potential solutions, it helps to have a plan of action instead of just panicking!

Going through the exact same thing right now! I certified on Wednesday morning and it's Friday evening with absolutely nothing in my payment history. Usually it shows up within a few hours like you said. After reading all these comments, it sounds like there's definitely some kind of system-wide issue happening this week. I'm going to check my message center tomorrow morning and try calling right when they open at 7:30am. If that doesn't work, I might have to bite the bullet and try Claimyr since so many people here are saying it actually works. It's just crazy that we have to pay a service to get through to our own state agency! Really hoping this resolves for all of us soon - the stress of not knowing if your payment is coming when you have bills due is awful. Keep us updated if you hear anything!

I'm in the same exact situation! Certified Wednesday too and still nothing showing up. It's so frustrating when you're depending on that money. I've been reading through all these replies and it seems like there's definitely something going on system-wide this week. Multiple people are reporting the same delays. I'm going to try calling first thing Monday morning and also check my message center like others suggested. If all else fails, might have to look into that Claimyr service everyone keeps mentioning. Really hope this gets sorted out soon for all of us - the uncertainty is the worst part!

I'm experiencing the exact same issue! Certified on Tuesday and it's now Saturday with absolutely nothing showing in my payment history. This is really stressful because I have my electric bill due Monday and was counting on this payment. After reading through everyone's experiences here, it's somewhat reassuring to know this seems to be a widespread problem this week rather than something specific to my account. I'm going to follow the advice here and check my message center first thing Monday morning, then try calling right at 7:30am when they open. If I can't get through after a few attempts, I think I'll have to try that Claimyr service that so many people are recommending - it sounds like it actually works even though it's frustrating we have to pay extra just to reach our own state agency. Thanks to everyone sharing their experiences and solutions, it really helps to know we're not alone in this mess!
