Claimed on Tuesday but no payment date showing in ny unemployment history - help!
I filed my weekly certification on Tuesday (usually do it Sunday but had internet issues) and it's now Friday but there's still no payment date showing in my payment history. Normally I see a pending payment within 24 hours. I checked my account status and everything looks normal - no messages about issues with my claim. My previous payments all came through fine for the last 3 months. I've been checking the payment history page like crazy and nothing's changed. Tried calling the main number but can't get through to anyone - just the automated system telling me my claim is active. Has anyone else had this happen recently? Starting to worry because rent is due next week and I'm counting on this money.

Same thing happened to me last month. The system is so broken lately. Have you tried calling right when they open at 8am? Sometimes thats the only time you can actually get through.

•I tried at 8am yesterday and today. Got the 'we're experiencing high call volume' message both times and then it hung up on me 😡

•This is why I gave up on calling altogether. You'll waste hours of your life on hold only to maybe get someone who can't help anyway.

•Yeah its basically impossible to reach them now. I ended up having to try like 50 times over 3 days before I finally got through.

After trying to call for WEEKS with no luck, I finally used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me connected to an actual person at unemployment within an hour. Talking to a real agent got my payments unstuck literally the next day. It was the only way I could talk to a live agent after wasting days trying on my own. Check out this video about how it works: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

•Yeah it actually works. I was skeptical too but I was desperate after not being able to reach anyone for 3 weeks. They basically do the calling and waiting on hold for you, then connect you once they get a real person.

•I get the skepticism - I felt the same way. But talking to an agent got my $ released in 24hrs after being stuck for almost a month. Worth every penny when ur about to get evicted 🤷♂️

•So this actually works? I'm on week 5 of trying to get someone on the phone

•It worked for me! My issue was similar - no payment showing up after certification. The agent was able to see there was a flag on my account that needed manual override. Fixed it while I was on the phone.

Check if you answered any questions differently this week. One wrong answer and they'll hold your payment for review. Happened to me when I accidentally clicked yes instead of no on the "did you refuse work" question.

Their systems have been having major glitches this month. Took 9 days for my last payment to process when it normally takes 2-3. Didn't have to do anything - it just suddenly appeared. Might just need to wait it out unfortunately.

•Did you ever call them or it just fixed itself? I'm getting really nervous about making rent.

•It just showed up eventually. But if you're worried about rent I'd try to get through on the phone. Better to be proactive.

I'm dealing with EXACTLY this right now. Certified on Sunday, usually see payment by Wednesday, but nothing is showing for this week. I kept checking payment history and the DOL website and there's nothing there - not even a pending transaction. Called 50+ times yesterday with no luck getting through. This is so stressful.

•UPDATE: Mine just showed up this morning! Says it'll be deposited Monday. Never got any explanation why it was delayed. Hopefully yours will appear soon too!

The trick is to call your local state assembly person's office. I was stuck for 6 weeks with no payment and no explanation. Called my assemblyman, and his office contacted DOL directly. Had my issue fixed in 3 days. They have special contacts at the unemployment office.

•I never thought of this! How do I find my local assembly person?

•Just google "NY state assembly person [your zip code]" and their contact info should come up. They literally exist to help with stuff like this.

This is so stupid. The NY unemployment site is THE WORST. Every week its something different. Last month they randomly put my account on hold for "identity verification" even though I've been getting benefits for 6 months with no problems. Then took 3 weeks to fix it. I feel your pain 😩

•I swear the website was designed by actual monkeys. Nothing ever works right and when you try to get help it's impossible. 🤡 system

•Pretty sure they make it bad on purpose to discourage people from claiming lol

Log out completely, clear your browser cache and cookies, and try logging back in. Sometimes the payment history doesn't update properly because of cached data. Happened to me twice - thought payment was missing but after clearing cache it showed up in history.

•Just tried this - still nothing showing unfortunately. But thanks for the suggestion!

There are a bunch of different phone numbers for different issues. Have you tried the alternative numbers? The main line is always jammed but sometimes the specialty lines have shorter waits. I've had luck with the payment issue line: 888-209-8124. Try pressing different options when you call - sometimes option 2 then 1 has shorter wait times than others.

Try contacting them through Twitter DM (@NYSLabor). Sounds weird but they actually respond there sometimes when you can't get through by phone. Be sure to say you've already tried calling multiple times and include your claim info (but not your SSN or anything super personal).

•I'll try this! Hadn't thought of social media. Thanks!

•np! Worked for me twice when I was desperate. They usually ask you to DM your phone number and then someone calls you back within a day or two.

Listen to me very carefully. DO NOT just wait for them to fix this on their own. I made that mistake and ended up waiting 5 weeks for payment. You need to actively get someone on the phone or your claim could be sitting in a digital pile somewhere. If you can't get through by calling yourself (which is likely), use a service like claimyr.com that will wait on hold for you. Their system is NOT designed to fix itself.

•THIS!!! Waiting quietly = no money. You have to be the squeaky wheel with these people.

•5 weeks?? Omg that's terrifying. I definitely need to get this fixed ASAP then.

Here's what I know about the NY unemployment payment schedule from my 9 months on it: - If you certify on Sunday before 7pm, payment usually shows as "pending" by Tuesday and deposits Wednesday/Thursday - If you certify Monday-Friday, add 2-3 business days to the timeline - Sometimes end-of-month claims are delayed because of high volume - System maintenance (usually happens last weekend of month) can delay payments by 1-2 days - Holiday weeks often cause delays - Random "reviews" can hold payments without notice If it's been more than 5 business days since certification, you definitely need to talk to someone. Regular calling doesn't work anymore - I used claimyr.com when this happened to me and it was the only way I actually got through to fix my payment issue. Totally worth it after wasting days trying to call myself.

•Thanks for this detailed breakdown. I certified Tuesday so maybe that's why it's taking longer? But still should have shown up by now based on your timeline.

•Yeah Tuesday certification should definitely show by Friday. Something's not right - I'd try to get someone on the phone ASAP.

Sometimes the payment history page doesn't update even though the payment is actually processing. Have you checked your bank account for pending deposits? Often my bank shows the pending deposit before the unemployment site updates.

•Good idea - just checked my bank account and nothing pending there either 😕

they always pull this garbage right when rent is due 😡 the whole system is designed to make us suffer

Have you checked if your benefit year expired? Sometimes you need to file a new claim after your BYE date even if you still have a balance showing. The system won't notify you - it just stops paying.

•I started getting benefits in May so I should still be within my benefit year - but how do I check the exact date?

Paolo Longo
•Log in and click on "Payment History" - at the top it should show your effective date and benefit year ending date.

Send a secure message through the online portal. Go to your account and look for the "Messages" tab, then "Compose New". Select "Payment Question" from the dropdown. They sometimes respond faster to these than phone calls.

ofc their system is broken again 🙄 water is wet. But seriously go check r/NYunemployment - bunch of people saying theres a system wide delay this week affecting payments. Some people on there said payments are delayed 3-4 days because of a "system migration" whatever that means

I had this EXACT same issue about 6 weeks ago - certified on Monday, nothing showed up for over a week. Turns out there was some random flag on my account that needed manual review, but the system never told me about it. I finally got through using one of those callback services people mentioned here (used Claimyr after reading about it) and the agent cleared it immediately. Payment showed up the next day. Don't wait too long hoping it fixes itself - these delays usually mean there's something that needs human intervention. The automated system is garbage at communicating what's actually wrong.

•This is really helpful to know! I'm definitely leaning towards trying one of those callback services at this point. How long did it take them to actually get you connected to someone? And was it expensive? I'm just worried about spending money I don't have if my payment is already delayed.
