EDD certification stuck on pending instead of paid - anyone else experiencing delays?
So I certified for my UI benefits this morning around 7am (usually do it Sunday but got caught up with family stuff). It's now almost 10pm and my status is still showing as 'pending' in the portal. Normally, it switches to 'paid' within 2-3 hours max, and I get the money deposited to my Money Network card by Tuesday. I've been claiming for about 6 weeks now without any issues until today. I double-checked my certification answers and everything looks normal - reported no work, actively looking for jobs, available to work, etc. Anyone else experiencing delays with their payments switching from pending to paid this week? Getting a bit nervous since rent is due soon and I'm really counting on this payment.

•That's concerning... have you had any issues before this week? I'm wondering if it's a system-wide problem.

This happens sometimes. There could be several reasons why your payment is stuck in pending status: 1. The EDD might be experiencing system delays (especially if multiple people are reporting this) 2. There might be a quarterly review happening on your claim 3. They could be verifying your identity or work search activities 4. Sometimes there are random eligibility reviews In my experience, if it's just a system delay, it will resolve within 24-48 hours without you needing to do anything. If it goes longer than that, you should try contacting EDD directly. The worst thing is waiting and finding out weeks later that there was an issue they needed information for.

•Thanks for the detailed info. I'll give it until Wednesday morning then. Really hope it's just a system delay because calling EDD is practically impossible these days.

OMG this is EXACTLY what happened to me last month!!! It was pending for like 4 days and I was FREAKING OUT because my car payment was due. I called EDD like 50 times and couldn't get through AT ALL. Then suddenly on Thursday it just switched to paid with NO EXPLANATION. The system is so broken it's ridiculous!!!

Has anyone in this thread checked if you have an interview scheduled? Sometimes when your certification gets stuck on pending it's because they flagged something in your answers and scheduled an eligibility interview. You should check your UI Online inbox and also any physical mail you might have received from EDD. Sometimes they don't even notify you properly about interviews and then disqualify you for missing them.

•Just checked my UI Online inbox and regular mail - nothing about an interview. My past certifications were all identical to this one, so I can't imagine what would suddenly trigger a flag. But I'll keep checking, thanks for the suggestion.

If it helps, I had this same issue in February. Turned out there was a quarterly review happening where they verify your wages from the previous quarter. Mine was pending for 3 days, then went to paid automatically. But if it goes longer than 3-4 days, you really need to contact EDD. I got through to an EDD rep using Claimyr (claimyr.com) - it's a service that calls EDD for you and then connects you when they get through to a representative. Saved me hours of redial frustration. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The rep I spoke with was able to see exactly why my payment was delayed and resolved it immediately.

•Does that Claimyr service actually work? I've spent HOURS trying to reach EDD last month when my eligibility interview got missed (they never called me!!). Is it legitimate? I'm hesitant to try random services...

•Yes, it's legitimate. I was skeptical too but it worked for me. They don't handle any of your EDD account details - they just do the calling part and connect you when they reach a representative. Once you're connected, you talk directly with the EDD rep just like you normally would. Saved me from spending an entire day hitting redial.

•That's actually reassuring to hear. Did your friend have to do anything to resolve it or did it just switch automatically after 4 days?

Quick update question for the original poster - did your status change yet? It would help others in the same situation to know how long the delay lasted. Also, check if you've hit your benefit year end date or if you're approaching your maximum benefit amount. Both of those can cause temporary pending statuses while the system does additional reviews.

•Thanks for checking in! It actually switched to paid this morning (about 36 hours after certification). Looks like it was just a delay in the system. My benefit year doesn't end until October and I've only used about half of my maximum benefit amount, so I think it was just some kind of processing delay like several people mentioned. Relief!

•Sorry to hear that! I hope you get through to someone. If you do, maybe ask if there's a known system issue happening. Might help others here.

FYI - sometimes your payment can get stuck if you answered something differently on this certification compared to previous ones. Even small inconsistencies can trigger a review. For example, if you usually say you looked for work on Monday/Wednesday but this time you put Tuesday/Thursday. The system is ridiculously sensitive. Also, every third month there's often a quarterly review that can delay things.

•WAIT SERIOUSLY?? You're telling me they actually COMPARE which specific days you looked for work from certification to certification??? That's insane! No wonder people get stuck in pending for no apparent reason. Who remembers exactly which days they put down weeks ago?? This system is designed to fail people I swear!

Glad to hear your payment processed! For anyone else reading this who's still having issues, here's what I've learned from my experience: 1. Normal system delays usually resolve within 24-48 hours 2. If it goes beyond that, there might be a specific issue with your claim 3. Don't wait weeks hoping it'll resolve itself - after 3-4 days, try to contact EDD 4. Check UI Online for any notices about interviews or additional information needed 5. If you've hit your benefit year end or approaching maximum benefits, expect delays The EDD system isn't perfect, but usually these pending issues do resolve one way or another.

•This is really helpful for future reference, thank you! I'll definitely follow this advice if it happens again.
