EDD payment delays after Monday certification - anyone else still waiting?

I certified yesterday (Monday) morning around 8:30am and still haven't seen any deposit to my Money Network card as of today! Normally my payments hit early Tuesday morning (like 3-4am), but nothing's showing up in my account. My status in UI Online changed from 'pending' to 'paid' around midnight, so I thought for sure I'd wake up to money in my account. Anyone else who certified Monday still waiting for their payment to actually post? Starting to get nervous since rent is due Friday and I can't afford any delays this week. Are EDD payments running slow for everyone or is it just me having issues?

Same boat! Certified Monday at 6am, shows PAID in the system since last night, but my account still shows $0 new deposits. Called Money Network and they don't show anything pending either. Really frustrating since I've never had delays before - usually Tuesday morning like clockwork. Starting to think there's some system issue going on.

How long have u been on unemployment? I've noticed they get slower with payments the longer ur claim goes on. My first few weeks were super fast then suddenly everything slowed down after month 3 🙄

That's somewhat reassuring! Did your UI Online status change to paid before the money actually showed up? I'm checking my Money Network account obsessively every 20 minutes lol

ya mine said paid since last night but money just showed up now. different bank tho so maybe money network takes longer

This is actually quite normal. The EDD payment system operates on a 24-48 hour cycle after certification status changes to "paid." While many claimants see deposits within 24 hours, it's completely normal for it to take the full 48 hours, especially if you're using Money Network rather than direct deposit to a bank account. A few things that can affect timing: 1. Bank holidays (though none this week) 2. High volume certification periods (like Mondays) 3. Money Network card vs. direct deposit (direct deposit is typically faster) 4. Time of day you certified If your UI Online shows "paid" status, the money is definitely coming. If you don't see anything by Thursday morning, then you might want to contact EDD to check on the status.

Thank you for the detailed explanation! That makes me feel better. I didn't realize Money Network was slower than direct deposit. Maybe I should switch to direct deposit for future payments. Is that hard to set up?

Switching to direct deposit is fairly simple. Log into your UI Online account, go to "Profile" then "Payment Preference" and select "Direct Deposit." You'll need your bank account number and routing number. The change typically takes effect for your next certification period. Just be aware that your first direct deposit payment might take a little longer as the system verifies your bank information.

EVERY SINGLE TIME I certify I go through this anxiety! The EDD system is SO inconsistent. Sometimes I get paid within hours, sometimes it takes 3 days with ZERO explanation. The worst part is you can NEVER get anyone on the phone to explain what's happening with your money. I've spent HOURS redialing that stupid 800 number only to get the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and get disconnected. It's like they WANT us to suffer!!!

I had the same issue trying to reach EDD about payment delays last month. After 3 days of failed calls, I tried Claimyr (claimyr.com) and they got me through to a rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep explained that sometimes there's a payment processing delay that affects certain batches of claims, but it's not actually a problem with the claim itself. Saved me days of stress wondering if something was wrong with my account.

Never heard of that service before! Might try it next time I'm pulling my hair out trying to get through. Did they actually fix your payment issue or just explain what was happening?

They couldn't speed up that particular payment (since it was just in the processing queue), but the peace of mind was worth it. The EDD rep confirmed everything was fine with my claim and the money would be deposited within 48 hours, which it was. For other issues like when my claim was stuck in pending for weeks, they were able to fix it on the spot.

I went through a similar situation last month and discovered that there's actually a difference between when your payment is issued and when it's processed by your bank or Money Network. EDD typically batches payments, and while the system might show "paid" status, the actual transfer to your account follows a separate timeline. One thing that helped me was setting up text alerts with Money Network so I get notified the moment funds are deposited. This saved me from constantly checking my balance. If you're concerned about timing for rent payment, direct deposit is definitely faster than Money Network in my experience. I switched about two months ago, and now my payments typically arrive 12-18 hours after showing "paid" in UI Online, whereas with Money Network it was taking 24-36 hours.

Thanks for the tip about text alerts! I didn't know Money Network offered that. I'm definitely going to switch to direct deposit after hearing everyone's feedback. It seems like that's the way to go for faster payments.

am i the only one who thinks its weird they make us certify every 2 weeks but still pay weekly? like why not just make us certify weekly or pay biweekly? makes no sense lol

Actually, there's a practical reason for this structure. By having you certify for two weeks at once, they reduce the administrative workload of processing certifications (both for claimants and EDD staff). However, they pay weekly to ensure claimants have more consistent cash flow rather than having to wait two full weeks between payments. It's actually designed to be helpful to claimants, even if it seems counterintuitive.

UPDATE: My payment FINALLY hit my Money Network card this morning (Wednesday) around 7am! So that was about 47 hours after certification, and about 31 hours after my status changed to "paid" in the system. Thanks everyone for keeping me sane during the wait. I'm definitely switching to direct deposit for next time so hopefully things will process faster.

Mine came through this morning too! What a relief. I'm also switching to direct deposit after reading all the comments here.
