EDD direct deposit delay - payment missing after weekend processing
Just switched from Money Network card to direct deposit about 10 days ago. My certification was processed Sunday night like usual, but no money has hit my checking account! Normally with the card I'd have access to funds by Monday morning latest. My UI Online account shows 'paid' status but my bank account shows nothing. Checked and double-checked my account/routing numbers and they're definitely correct. Called EDD 23 times today and can't get through. Anyone else experiencing delays with direct deposit? Is the first payment after switching typically delayed? Getting really nervous as rent is due Friday.

First direct deposit payment always takes longer. Same thing happened to me.

•How long did yours take? Did you have to call them or did it just eventually show up?

The first direct deposit payment usually takes 3-5 business days to process through the banking system. If your UI Online shows 'paid' status, that's a good sign - the money is on its way. The system needs to verify your banking information before releasing the funds. This verification step only happens with the first payment after switching. Future payments should arrive within 1-2 business days after certification is processed. Check again tomorrow morning. If nothing arrives by Thursday, then you might need to contact EDD for clarification, but I'd give it at least 48 more hours before panicking.

•Thank you! That's super helpful info. Wish EDD would have mentioned this somewhere when I made the switch. Will try to be patient until Thursday.

I SWITCHED TO DIRECT DEPOSIT LAST MONTH AND IT WAS A NIGHTMARE!!!!! First payment took 9 DAYS to arrive!!! Called EDD like 50 times and kept getting hung up on. Their system is COMPLETELY BROKEN! They didn't even tell me there would be a delay. Had to borrow money from my sister for groceries. After that first payment though, it's been working fine and actually faster than the card. Just be prepared to wait...

•YUP! 9 full days! And zero communication from EDD about why. Typical.

Same thing is happening to me right now! Certified Sunday, shows paid in system, but no money in my account. This is my first direct deposit payment too. Called the automated line and it confirms payment was issued, but nothing in my bank account yet. So stressful! Let me know if yours comes through.

Had this problem last month when I switched. My bank actually put a 3-day hold on the first EDD deposit because it was a new deposit source. Might want to call your bank to check if they're holding it? My credit union didn't even notify me they were doing this until I called them.

•I didn't even think about that possibility! Just called my bank and you were right - they have a hold on it because it's a first-time ACH from a government source. They said it should clear by tomorrow. THANK YOU!

If you're having trouble connecting with EDD about your direct deposit issue, I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I spent days trying to get through to EDD about my delayed direct deposit and was getting desperate. Claimyr got me connected to a live agent in under 25 minutes when I couldn't get through on my own after 30+ attempts. The agent was able to confirm my payment was processing correctly and explained the first-payment delay. Saved me so much stress! Check out their video demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km or visit claimyr.com - definitely worth it for time-sensitive payment issues.

•Does this actually work? I've tried those "get through to EDD" services before and they never worked for me. Just wasted more time.

•It worked for me twice now. The second time I needed to talk to a tier 2 specialist about my quarterly review, and they were able to get me through to someone who could actually help. Not saying it's perfect, but way better than the redial-for-hours approach I was trying before.

im having this exact issue now!!! been waiting 4 days and nothing in my account. EDD website says paid but no money anywhere. this is so frustrating why cant they just use venmo or zelle or something instant

•Government systems don't use consumer payment apps like Venmo or Zelle due to security protocols and the need for auditable payment trails. ACH transfers (what EDD uses) are more secure for large-scale government payments, though unfortunately slower. Your payment should appear soon if the system shows 'paid'.

UPDATE: Payment just hit my account this morning! So it took exactly 3 business days after showing 'paid' in the EDD system. For anyone else switching to direct deposit, just be prepared for this delay on your first payment. Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions!

•Great news! The first one is always the worst. From now on it should be much faster for you - my subsequent payments have been showing up within 24 hours of certification.
