EDD payment stuck as 'paid' but no deposit after certifying - 5 days and counting

I certified for my UI benefits on Sunday morning like I always do, and my claim status changed to 'paid' in the system by Monday afternoon, but it's now Thursday and I STILL haven't received the actual deposit to my Money Network card. This has never happened before - normally the money hits my card within 24-48 hours tops after showing 'paid' in the system. I checked my payment history and everything looks normal there, shows the correct benefit amount as 'paid' with the correct date. My card is definitely active (just got it last month) and my previous payment from two weeks ago went through fine. I even called the Money Network number on the back of my card to check my balance and there's definitely no deposit. Anyone else experiencing delays this week? Is there something going on with EDD's payment processing? I'm getting worried because I have bills due tomorrow...

Glad it's not just me (though sorry you're dealing with it too). Have you tried calling EDD about it? I tried this morning but couldn't get through.

This happens sometimes - there can be random delays in the EDD payment system that aren't your fault. A few things to check: 1) Login to UI Online and make sure there are no pending questionnaires or requests for additional information 2) Double check that your certification answers didn't accidentally trigger a review (like answering yes to not looking for work) 3) Sometimes bank holidays can delay processing by a day or two even if the holiday fell on Monday. If your payment history shows 'paid' and not 'pending', the money should eventually arrive. If it doesn't show up by tomorrow, then you'll need to call EDD directly to have them look into it. The technical issues are usually resolved within 3-5 business days.

Thank you for this detailed response! I checked and don't see any pending questionnaires, and I'm pretty sure my certification answers were all standard. I always say yes to looking for work and list my job search activities. I guess the bank holiday could be it, though that hasn't caused delays for me before. I'll give it until tomorrow like you suggested.

Yikes, 3 weeks? That's awful! I just double-checked and my certification status definitely says 'paid' not 'disqualified' - so I don't think that's the issue for me. At least I hope not. But thanks for mentioning it.

Could be a system issue. I had this happen in February where my payment showed as 'paid' but took almost a week to hit my card. Called EDD and they said there was a processing delay affecting multiple claimants. Nothing wrong with my claim specifically, just a technical glitch on their end. I know it's frustrating when you're counting on that money for bills. Have you tried checking if there's any transaction pending on the Money Network app? Sometimes it shows there before it actually completes.

I did check the Money Network app and website, but there's nothing showing as pending unfortunately. That's interesting to hear about the system-wide delay in February. Maybe something similar is happening now. It would be nice if EDD actually communicated about these things instead of leaving us all in the dark wondering what's going on!

For what it's worth, I'm experiencing the exact same thing! Certified Sunday, shows paid, but no money on my card. First time this has happened in the 4 months I've been on unemployment. Called the EDD automated line and it confirms payment was issued, but nothing's hit my account. Extremely frustrating when you're budgeting down to the penny and expecting that deposit. I've been trying to call EDD for two days but keep getting the "we're experiencing high call volume" message and then it hangs up. Not sure what else to do at this point except wait and hope...

That's exactly my situation too! So frustrating with the call volume message. I've tried calling at different times of day but keep getting disconnected. Let me know if you end up getting your deposit or manage to reach someone!

My roommate had this happen last month. Money showed as paid but didn't show up for 6 days! Then randomly appeared on her card. EDD is such a mess sometimes.

6 days?! Ugh, that's so long to wait when you're counting on that money. But it's somewhat reassuring to hear it did eventually show up without her having to do anything. I guess I'll try to be patient.

If you need to reach an actual human at EDD about this (which you probably do), I'd recommend trying Claimyr. I was in a similar situation with a payment issue and couldn't get through the regular phone line for days. Claimyr connected me to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep was able to see exactly what was happening with my payment and fixed the issue while I was on the phone. Sometimes there are internal flags or holds that aren't visible to us on the UI Online portal that only they can see and resolve.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know - I just checked my Money Network card and my payment FINALLY posted! It took almost 6 days total. No explanation from EDD about the delay, it just eventually showed up. Hope everyone else sees their payments soon too.

OMG I just checked after seeing your comment and mine came through too!! What a relief! Thanks everyone for your help and commiseration. Definitely going to start building a small emergency fund for future delay situations like this once I'm back on my feet.
