EDD payment schedule: getting paid today or tomorrow for weekly certification?
Hey everyone, I certified for my weekly benefits on Sunday morning around 9am, but I still haven't received my payment on my Money Network card. It usually hits my account by Monday evening, but nothing yet. Calendar shows it's a regular bank day (no holiday). Anyone know if EDD is paying out today or if I should expect it tomorrow? Getting a bit anxious since my rent is due Friday and I need this payment to make it work. My UI Online just shows 'paid' status but no deposit date.

•Thanks, I certified around 9am Sunday. So maybe tomorrow then? Ugh, cutting it close with rent...

The payment schedule depends on a few factors: 1. When you certified (as mentioned above) 2. Your bank's processing time if using direct deposit 3. Money Network card typically takes 24-48 hours after EDD shows "paid" status If your UI Online account shows "paid" status, the money is on its way. Money Network processing usually completes overnight, so you should see it by tomorrow morning. You can also call the Money Network automated line at 1-866-320-8699 to check if there's a pending deposit that hasn't posted to your available balance yet.

•I've been on UI for 8 months, and I've found certifying right at midnight Sunday helps. But honestly the EDD system is so messed up that sometimes payments are delayed for NO reason at all! Last month they randomly held mine for 3 days with ZERO explanation!!! Just one more way the system works AGAINST people who need help!!

Just to provide some clarity on the EDD payment timeline: Certification Submitted + Payment Authorized → EDD marks claim as "Paid" in UI Online → Fund transfer initiated → Money Network/Bank processes deposit → Funds available This normally takes 24-48 hours from when you see "Paid" status. The Money Network card specifically processes overnight batches, so if your UI Online switched to "Paid" yesterday or early today, you should see funds tomorrow morning. Pro tip: Set up direct deposit instead of the card if you want slightly faster processing. I've found direct deposit is typically 12-24 hours faster than the card.

•I'll definitely look into direct deposit for next time. Do I just set that up in my UI Online account? And is there any delay when switching from the card to direct deposit?

•Yes, you can set it up in UI Online under "Payment Methods." There might be a 1-2 payment cycle transition period, so I wouldn't switch right before you need a payment urgently. The Money Network card will still work for any funds already on it after you switch.

•YES! I'm having the exact same issue! My payments used to hit on Mondays like clockwork, but for the last 3 certification periods, they've been taking until Wednesday. When I called EDD about it, I got the "high call volume" message and couldn't get through to anyone. I actually found a service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) that got me through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of calling for days. They have a video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The rep told me there's been no official change to the payment schedule, but they're experiencing higher volume processing times because of some system updates. Should go back to normal within a few weeks.

anybody else notice that if you certify for retroactive weeks at the same time as current week it takes longer to process all of them?

•YES! I had a similar thing happen when I certified for 3 weeks at once after my identity verification was resolved. I think multiple week certifications get flagged for extra review.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my payment posted this morning at 4:17am (just checked). So it took exactly 48 hours from when I certified. Thanks for all the helpful info everyone!

•Great news! And now you know what to expect for future payment timelines. The 24-48 hour window after showing 'paid' is pretty consistent unless there's a banking holiday.

Same exact situation happened to me last month! I was freaking out because my car payment was due and I needed that money. What I learned is that EDD processes payments in batches, and if you certify later in the day on Sunday (like after 6am), you might get bumped to the next batch which delays everything by 24 hours. Now I always certify right at midnight on Sunday and haven't had any delays since. The Money Network card is reliable once EDD actually sends the payment, it's just the timing of when EDD processes everything that can be unpredictable.

•This is really good advice about certifying right at midnight! I'm new to the whole UI system and had no idea the timing could make such a difference. I've been certifying whenever I remember on Sunday, sometimes in the afternoon. Definitely going to try the midnight approach from now on. It's crazy how these little details can affect when you get paid when you're already stressed about money.

•@Omar Fawzi Yeah, it s'frustrating that EDD doesn t'make these timing details more transparent! I found out about the midnight certification trick the hard way too after missing a rent payment deadline. Another thing I discovered is that if you re'on the Money Network card, you can actually check for pending deposits by logging into their website or calling their automated line. Sometimes the money is already there but just hasn t'been released to your available balance yet. The whole system could definitely be more user-friendly for people who are already dealing with job loss stress.

One thing that really helped me when I was in a similar tight spot with bills was setting up account alerts through Money Network. You can get text notifications when funds are deposited, which saves you from constantly checking your balance and stressing out. Also, if you're ever in this situation again and need to know exactly when your payment will hit, the EDD phone line (1-800-300-5616) sometimes has automated information about payment processing delays - though getting through to an actual person is nearly impossible. The automated system can at least tell you if there are any known system issues causing delays. Hope this helps future folks who find themselves in the same boat!

•This is such helpful advice about the account alerts! I wish I had known about that feature earlier. I've been manually checking my balance multiple times a day which just adds to the stress. Setting up text notifications sounds like a game changer. Also good to know about the automated phone line - even if you can't talk to a person, at least you can find out if there are system-wide issues. Thanks for sharing these practical tips!

I just went through this exact same stress last week! The waiting period between seeing "paid" status and actually getting the funds is the worst part. For what it's worth, I've been tracking my payment patterns for the past 6 months and here's what I've noticed: if you certify before 6am on Sunday, payments typically hit Tuesday morning. If you certify after 6am Sunday, it's usually Wednesday morning. The Money Network card seems to process their overnight batch around 3-4am, so that's when most people see their deposits appear. One tip that saved me during a tight spot - some ATMs will show pending deposits before they're available for spending, so you can at least confirm the money is coming even if you can't access it yet. Hang in there, the system is frustrating but it does work eventually!

•This tracking info is incredibly helpful! I never thought to track the patterns like that. The 6am cutoff time is really specific - it's good to know there's actually some logic to when payments get processed instead of it feeling completely random. The tip about ATMs showing pending deposits is genius too, at least for peace of mind when you're waiting. I'm definitely going to start certifying earlier on Sunday from now on. Thanks for taking the time to figure out these patterns and share them with everyone!
