EDD payment delay for this week - anyone else still waiting?

So I usually get my EDD payment deposited onto my Money Network card every Monday morning like clockwork. It's now Wednesday afternoon and still nothing has shown up! My certification went through fine on Sunday (says 'paid' in the system) but the funds haven't transferred to my card yet. I called the automated payment status line and it also confirms payment was issued, but nothing's in my account. Is anyone else experiencing delays with their payment this week? I'm starting to get worried because my rent is due on Friday and I was counting on this money.

same boat here! certified sunday, says paid in the system but my direct deposit isnt here yet. never happened before in 8 months of claims

That's a little reassuring that I'm not the only one. Have you tried calling EDD to see what's going on? I'm wondering if it's a system-wide issue.

There's actually a notice on the EDD website about a temporary payment processing delay affecting claims certified between June 19-21, 2025. They're saying payments might be delayed by 24-48 hours but should all be processed by end of day Thursday. This happens occasionally when they're updating their payment systems or during holiday weeks (though this isn't a holiday week). As long as your UI Online account shows 'paid' status, you should be fine - just delayed.

Thank you so much for this info! I completely missed that notice. Hopefully it will come through tomorrow then, but it's still cutting it close for my rent payment. I might need to talk to my landlord just in case.

this happens to me EVERY OTHER MONTH i swear!! EDD is the WORST at communicating these things!!! why dont they TEXT everyone when there's a delay instead of burying it on their website?? some of us have BILLS TO PAY!!!!

ikr? would it kill them to send an email? not everyone checks the website daily

If you're worried about the timing for your rent, I'd recommend calling EDD directly to confirm exactly when the payment will process. The automated system can't tell you about these processing delays. Sometimes the representatives can expedite transfers in urgent situations, especially when rent is involved. I had a similar situation last year and was able to get my payment expedited after explaining my circumstances. The trick is actually getting through to a live person though - the phone lines are still a nightmare.

That's good to know they might be able to expedite! I've been trying to call all morning with no luck. Just constant busy signals or the "we're experiencing high call volume" message before it hangs up. So frustrating.

I went through this exact situation last month! After trying to call for 3 days straight, I finally used Claimyr.com to get through to an EDD rep. It basically places the call for you and calls you back when it gets an agent on the line. Saved me hours of redial frustration. They have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The EDD rep was able to tell me exactly when my payment would hit my account and it was a huge relief. Might be worth a try if you need to talk to someone before your rent is due.

That's really helpful, thank you! I've never heard of this service before but I'm desperate at this point. I'll check out the video and give it a try since I really need to know if this money will arrive before Friday.

is that service legit?? sounds sketch tbh... don't they need ur personal info?

0 coins

It's definitely legit - they don't access your EDD account at all. They just handle the phone connection part and then you talk directly to EDD yourself. It saved my sanity last month when I needed answers about my delayed payment.

Just an FYI on these payment delays - this often happens at the end of each quarter (March, June, September, December) when EDD does system maintenance. I've been on UI for almost 16 months now (finally starting a new job next week!) and noticed this pattern. It's always stressful but the money has always shown up eventually. One tip: if you're worried about rent timing, you can call your Money Network card directly at the number on the back and ask if there are any pending deposits. Sometimes they can see incoming transfers before they actually post to your available balance.

Thanks for the tip about calling Money Network directly! I'll try that right now. And congrats on the new job!

wait i thought money network was only for the EDD debit card? i use direct deposit to my bank account

0 coins

You're right - Money Network is just for the EDD debit card option. If you use direct deposit to your personal bank, you'd need to check with your bank about pending deposits instead. Sorry for the confusion!

my sister works at bank of america and she said somethings going on with the ACH transfers all over california not just EDD stuff. might be related

This is actually very helpful information. ACH is the system used for electronic transfers between financial institutions, so if there's a wider issue with ACH in California, that would explain why EDD payments are delayed even though they show as 'paid' in the system. Thanks for sharing this insight.

UPDATE: Just wanted to let everyone know my payment finally hit my Money Network card this morning (Thursday). Checked at 6am and it wasn't there, but when I checked again at 9:30am, the funds were available! Hopefully everyone else's payments are coming through too. Thanks for all the help and insights!

mine too! just checked and its finally there. what a relief!

Great news! Glad it worked out before your rent was due.

This is such a stressful situation but glad to see the payments are finally coming through! I'm new to EDD benefits and this thread has been incredibly helpful - I had no idea these kinds of delays could happen even when it shows "paid" in the system. Definitely bookmarking this for future reference and will remember to check for notices on their website during certification weeks. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences and tips!

Welcome to the community! Yeah, these payment delays can definitely be nerve-wracking when you're counting on that money. I've learned the hard way to always check the EDD website for notices around certification time - they really don't make it easy to find important updates. One thing that helps me is setting aside a small buffer if possible for situations like this, but I know that's not always realistic when you're on unemployment. This community has been a lifesaver for getting real-time info from people going through the same things!

Just want to add that if anyone is still waiting for their payment, you can also check the EDD website under "Payment Information" to see if there's a specific hold or issue with your claim. Sometimes payments get flagged for review even when they show as "paid" initially. I learned this the hard way after waiting 5 days for a payment that turned out to have an identity verification hold on it. Also, for future reference, EDD typically processes payments in batches throughout the day, so even if yours doesn't come with the first wave in the morning, it might arrive later in the afternoon. The uncertainty is the worst part but hang in there!

This is really valuable advice, especially about checking for holds even when it shows "paid"! I'm still pretty new to navigating all the EDD systems and didn't realize there could be additional flags that aren't immediately obvious. The batched processing throughout the day is good to know too - I was checking obsessively every hour this morning thinking something was wrong. It's reassuring to hear from people who've been through various scenarios with delays. Definitely going to bookmark that Payment Information section you mentioned for future reference!

As someone who just went through my first EDD payment delay last month, I can totally relate to the panic! What helped me was realizing that EDD's "paid" status basically means they've approved and queued your payment, but it still has to go through their banking partners and the ACH system before hitting your account. I started keeping a simple spreadsheet tracking my certification dates, when payments usually arrive, and any delays - it's helped me spot patterns and not freak out as much when things are a day or two late. Also learned to always screenshot my "paid" status just in case there are any disputes later. The waiting game is brutal but this community has been amazing for getting real answers when EDD's customer service is impossible to reach!

That's such a smart approach with the spreadsheet tracking! I wish I had thought of that when I started getting benefits. The screenshot tip is brilliant too - I've heard horror stories of people having payment disputes where EDD claimed they never processed something, so having that documentation could be a lifesaver. It's crazy how much we have to become our own case managers just to navigate this system. Thanks for sharing those practical tips - definitely going to start doing both of those things going forward!

The spreadsheet idea is genius! I'm definitely going to start doing that - would have saved me so much stress this week if I had been tracking the patterns. And you're absolutely right about the screenshot documentation. I've been screenshotting my certification confirmations but never thought to capture the "paid" status too. It's unfortunate we have to be so proactive about protecting ourselves, but with how glitchy their system can be, it's probably essential. Really appreciate you sharing these hard-learned lessons - this is exactly the kind of practical advice that makes this community so valuable!

This whole thread has been incredibly reassuring and educational! I'm relatively new to EDD benefits (just started my claim two months ago) and had no idea these kinds of payment delays could happen even when everything shows as "paid" in the system. The stress of waiting for money you're counting on is real - I can totally understand the panic about rent being due. I love all the practical tips people have shared here, especially about checking for notices on the EDD website, calling Money Network directly, and keeping documentation with screenshots. It's clear this community really looks out for each other and shares valuable real-world experience that you just can't get from EDD's official resources. Definitely going to implement some of these strategies going forward, particularly the spreadsheet tracking idea. Thanks to everyone for sharing their knowledge and helping newcomers like me navigate this often frustrating system!

Welcome to the community, Nora! You've picked up on exactly what makes this place so valuable - the real-world experiences and practical tips that you just won't find in EDD's official documentation. I've been dealing with EDD for about a year now and this community has saved me countless hours of stress and confusion. The screenshot documentation habit is probably the most important thing you can start doing right away - I learned that lesson after a scary situation where my payment history temporarily disappeared from the website and I had no proof of what had been processed. Everyone here really does look out for each other, which is so refreshing when dealing with such a frustrating bureaucratic system. Don't hesitate to ask questions when you run into issues - there's always someone who's been through the same thing!

I've been dealing with EDD for about 6 months now and this thread perfectly captures the anxiety these payment delays cause! What really helped me was setting up text alerts through my bank so I get notified the moment any deposit hits my account - saves me from obsessively checking the app every hour. Also discovered that if you use the EDD debit card, you can call the automated balance line (the number on the back) and it will tell you about pending deposits before they show in your available balance. One more tip: I started certifying earlier on Sunday mornings rather than Sunday evening because I noticed payments seem to process faster when certified earlier in the day - might just be coincidence but worth trying! This community has been such a lifesaver for navigating all these little quirks that EDD never tells you about.

These are fantastic practical tips! The bank text alerts idea is brilliant - I never thought about setting those up but it would definitely save so much anxious account checking. And the timing tip about certifying earlier on Sunday is really interesting - I've always just done it whenever I remember on Sunday, but if there's even a chance it helps with processing speed, I'm definitely going to start setting an alarm for Sunday morning. The automated balance line tip for the EDD card is gold too - it's amazing how many little workarounds like this exist that they never tell you about officially. Thanks for sharing all these hard-earned insights! This is exactly why this community is so valuable - real people sharing what actually works in practice.

Reading through all these experiences really highlights how much we have to become our own advocates when dealing with EDD! I've been on unemployment for about 4 months now and this thread is like a masterclass in practical EDD survival tips. The combination of setting up bank alerts, screenshotting everything, keeping a tracking spreadsheet, and knowing about the automated balance line for the EDD card - these are the real-world strategies that actually matter. It's frustrating that we have to figure all this out through trial and error and community support rather than having EDD provide clear guidance, but I'm so grateful for forums like this where people share what they've learned. I'm definitely implementing several of these tips going forward, especially the Sunday morning certification timing and the documentation practices. Thanks to everyone for turning what could have been a panic-inducing situation into a learning opportunity for the whole community!

Absolutely agree! This thread has been like a crash course in EDD reality vs. what they actually tell you. I'm just starting my unemployment journey (filed my claim last week) and I had no idea about any of these potential issues or workarounds. The fact that we have to crowdsource basic operational knowledge about a government system is pretty wild, but I'm so thankful people like you all are willing to share what you've learned the hard way. I'm taking notes on all these tips - especially the screenshot documentation and Sunday morning certification timing. It's clear that being proactive and informed makes a huge difference in reducing stress when delays inevitably happen. This community seems like it's going to be essential for navigating what's ahead!

Welcome to the community, Freya! You're getting started at the perfect time by learning from everyone's experiences before you encounter these issues yourself. I wish I had found this community earlier - would have saved me so much stress during my first few months. Since you're just starting out, I'd also recommend bookmarking the EDD website's notices page and checking it every certification week. And don't be afraid to ask questions here - everyone's been super helpful and there's no such thing as a dumb question when it comes to navigating this system. The learning curve is steep but having this community support makes all the difference!

This entire thread has been incredibly educational! I'm about 3 months into my EDD journey and experiencing my first payment delay this week - was starting to panic until I found this discussion. The collective wisdom here is amazing: from checking the EDD notices page to setting up bank alerts, documenting everything with screenshots, and even the tip about certifying early Sunday morning. It's both reassuring and frustrating to see how common these delays are, but knowing there are specific things we can do to better navigate the system makes me feel much more prepared. I'm definitely going to start implementing the spreadsheet tracking system and screenshot documentation right away. Thanks to everyone for sharing their hard-earned knowledge - this community is truly a lifeline when dealing with EDD's quirks and poor communication!

Welcome to the club of EDD payment delays! It's definitely nerve-wracking the first time it happens, but you're handling it exactly right by finding this community and learning from everyone's experiences. I'm about 8 months into my EDD journey now and I can say with confidence that these delays are unfortunately pretty normal - the key is having all these backup strategies and documentation practices in place. The screenshot habit has saved me twice when my payment history glitched in their system. One thing I'd add to all the great tips here is to also screenshot your certification confirmation page right after you submit - I've had situations where EDD claimed I never certified when I definitely did. It's crazy that we have to be so defensive with documentation, but better safe than sorry with this system!
