EDD payment delay after certification - no pending status or messages
I'm getting worried about my UI payment this week. I've been on unemployment for about 2 months and my payments have always hit my Money Network card within 24 hours after certifying. This week I certified on Thursday morning (like I always do) but it's now Saturday and nothing has shown up. My UI Online account just shows the certification as "received" but there's no "pending" status, no disqualification notice, and no messages in my inbox. Nothing looks different from previous weeks except the payment isn't coming through. My rent is due next week and I'm starting to panic. Is EDD experiencing system delays or is something wrong with my claim? Anyone else experiencing random payment delays right now?

•That's at least a little reassuring. Did you call them or do anything to make it go through? I'm wondering if I should wait it out or try to contact them.

This happened to me too but mine was because my benefit year ended and I didn't realize it. Check if you're at the end of your benefit year maybe?

•I just double-checked and my benefit year doesn't end until September, so I don't think that's it. But thanks for the suggestion!

EDD is experiencing some payment processing delays right now. I spoke with a tier 2 specialist yesterday about my own issue, and she mentioned they're having a system update that's causing random payment delays for some claimants. Most payments are resolving within 3-5 business days without any action needed. If you don't receive payment by Tuesday, I'd recommend trying to reach them by phone. Make sure you have your claim information ready when you call.

•Thank you so much for this information! This is really helpful to know. I'll give it until Tuesday before I start trying to call them. Fingers crossed it comes through before then.

•That's not entirely accurate. Work search requirements vary by individual claim. Some claimants need to list specific work contacts, while others only need to check the box indicating they looked for work. If there was an issue with work search, EDD usually puts the payment in pending status and sends a message requesting additional information.

The EXACT same thing is happening to me right now!!! I also certified Thursday and usually get paid Friday morning but nothing so far. Called EDD about 50 times today and just get the stupid "we're experiencing high call volume" message and it hangs up. This is SO FRUSTRATING especially when rent is due and they give us ZERO information about what's going on!!!

•I had this problem getting through to EDD last month and finally used Claimyr to connect with an EDD rep. It's a service that basically calls EDD for you and connects you when they get through. Saved me hours of redial frustration. Their site is claimyr.com and they have a video showing how it works here: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. The rep told me they often have these random payment delays at the beginning of each quarter due to system updates.

This happens sometimes when their payment processing system gets backed up, especially near holidays or at the end/beginning of quarters. I've been on UI three separate times over the years, and occasionally payments just take longer for no apparent reason. As long as your certification shows as "received" and there's no pending or disqualification notice, the payment should come through. One thing to check - did you recently change any personal information in your account like address, phone number, or banking info? Sometimes that triggers a security review that can delay payments.

•No, I haven't changed any personal information recently. From what everyone is saying, it sounds like it's just a system delay and I should probably give it a few more days. It's really stressful not knowing when money will arrive though!

•OMG JUST CHECKED AND IT'S THERE!!! Thank you everyone for your help and reassurance. Looks like it was just a random delay like many of you said. What a relief!

The EDD is such a joke these days. They never tell us anything when there are delays and we're just supposed to wait around wondering if we'll be able to pay our bills. Glad your payment came through but this system is completely broken!
