EDD Certifications Still Pending - No Payment Issued Today - Help!
I certified for my UI benefits yesterday morning (Sunday) like I always do, but something strange is happening this time. Usually the money hits my account by Monday afternoon, but it's already Tuesday evening and my certification status is still showing 'pending' in the system. No payment has been issued yet. My rent is due by Friday and I'm starting to get a bit anxious about this delay. I've double-checked my UI Online account and there don't seem to be any flags or issues with my claim. My work search activities were all entered correctly. Has anyone else experienced a delay with their certification processing today? Is EDD having some kind of system issue? How long should I wait before I try to contact someone?

•3 days?? That's nerve-wracking. Did they ever explain why it happened to you before? I'm just worried because I've never had this issue in the past 4 months of my claim.

This is happening to a lot of people right now. EDD is experiencing a system delay with payment processing. I spoke with a tier 2 specialist yesterday who confirmed they're aware of the issue and working to resolve it. Most pending certifications should process within 48-72 hours, but some may take longer. If you don't see movement by Thursday, that's when I'd recommend trying to contact them directly.

•Thank you for this information! How were you able to reach a tier 2 specialist? Every time I call, I just get the automated message saying they're experiencing high call volume.

I'm having EXACTLY the same problem!!! Certified on Sunday and still stuck on PENDING! This is making me so nervous because last time this happened to me, I ended up having to do an eligibility interview and didn't get paid for THREE WEEKS! I literally can't afford that kind of delay again. Has anyone figured out if there's a specific reason why this is happening??? Is it because of the quarter change maybe?

•It's unlikely to be related to the quarter change - that would typically affect people whose benefit year is ending. The current delay appears to be a processing issue on EDD's end. If you've had eligibility interviews before, make sure you're correctly reporting any earnings and answering the certification questions accurately to avoid flags on your account. Most pending statuses during system delays will resolve without interviews being required.

When I had this problem last month, I used Claimyr to get through to an EDD rep in about 20 minutes instead of spending days redialing. The rep was able to push my pending certification through to paid status right away. Definitely worth checking out their demo at https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km - the site is claimyr.com. Saved me from a late rent payment situation.

•Does that actually work? I've heard about it but was skeptical. Might try it if mine doesn't clear by tomorrow.

Just a quick update - my certification just switched from pending to paid about 10 minutes ago. It looks like EDD is starting to process the backlog of payments. Check your UI Online accounts, everyone!

•Just checked and mine is still pending unfortunately. But it's good to hear they're making progress! Gives me hope it might change soon.

So I had this happen and I panicked and called and waited for like 3 hours and finally got someone who told me sometimes it's just random verification checks they do and nothing to worry about...and then while I was ON THE PHONE with them it switched from pending to paid! SMH all that stress for nothing. EDD really needs to communicate better about these things.

•3 HOURS?!?! Omg I can't even. At least yours got fixed! Mine is still pending and I'm starting to wonder if I should just start calling now.

look ive been on unemployment on and off for years and this happens evry couple months. EDD computers are from the stone age. they do maintenance and everything gets backed up. happened to me like 5 times already. always fixes itself but they never tell us anything. typical government efficiency lol

•UPDATE: My payment just switched to paid this morning! Looks like it was just a temporary delay. Thanks everyone for your help and reassurance during my mini-panic.

For anyone still experiencing pending payments: if your certification remains pending for more than 72 hours (3 business days), there may be an issue specific to your claim rather than the system-wide delay. At that point, I'd recommend contacting EDD directly. When you do reach a representative, ask them to check for any 'stop payment alerts' or 'eligibility issues' on your claim. Sometimes they can resolve these on the spot if they're minor verification issues.

•This is really helpful info. My husband's still stuck on pending and it's been 4 days now. Guess we need to make that dreaded phone call tomorrow.
