EDD payment timeline after certification - still waiting after 3 days
Just certified for my UI benefits on Sunday morning and still haven't received payment (it's now Wednesday). During my previous certification periods, the money was always in my account by Tuesday morning at the latest. My claim status shows 'paid' in the portal but nothing has hit my Bank of America EDD card yet. Is there some kind of delay happening with EDD payments this week? Should I be worried or is this normal? This is my 4th certification period overall if that matters.

Usually takes 24-48 hrs after it shows 'paid' in the system. Ive noticed lately mine has been taking the full 48 hrs when before it was more like 24. EDD is probably just backed up again nothing new lol

•Thanks! That's reassuring. I'll wait another day before panicking 😅

The timing depends on several factors. If your certification shows as 'paid' in UI Online, you're in good shape. For Bank of America EDD cards, transfers typically take 1-2 business days after the 'paid' status appears. However, if you recently switched to direct deposit, it can take up to 3 business days for the first payment to process through the new system. Also, holiday weekends can delay things by another day. If you don't see it by Friday, then you should contact EDD.

If you need to contact EDD, good luck getting through! I spent 3 days trying to reach them about a payment issue last month. Kept getting the "maximum callers" message. I finally used Claimyr.com which got me connected to an EDD rep in under 30 minutes. They have a demo video showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km. Seriously saved me days of frustration and the rep was able to fix my payment delay issue right away.

•Is that service legit? I've been scared to try those call services because I don't want to give my info to some random company.

•It worked for me! I was skeptical too but was desperate after days of trying. They just help you get through the phone system - you still talk directly with the actual EDD rep to discuss your claim.

Payment timing after certification follows this general timeline: 1. Certification submitted (Sunday for you) 2. EDD processes the certification (1-2 days) 3. Status changes to "paid" in UI Online 4. Payment transfer initiated to your payment method 5. Funds available in account (1-3 days after "paid" status) Since you're seeing "paid" status, you're already at step 3. For Bank of America EDD cards, transfers typically take 1-2 business days to complete. Direct deposit can take 1-3 business days depending on your bank. With your timeline (certified Sunday, showing paid, now Wednesday), you're still within the normal window. I'd expect the payment to post by tomorrow at the latest. If not received by Friday, then contact EDD for assistance.

•Right?? The stress of not knowing when the money will actually hit is almost worse than not having it.

Did you check if your BofA card is still active? Mine expired and I didn't realize it, so payments were showing as "paid" but weren't accessible until I got my new card. Just something to consider if it doesn't show up by tomorrow.

•That's a good point! Just checked and my card is still good until 2026, so that's not the issue. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just as an update for anyone finding this thread later: Currently in 2025, EDD processing times are: - Regular certifications: 1-2 days to show 'paid' status - Card transfers: 1-2 business days after 'paid' - Direct deposit: 1-3 business days after 'paid' - First payments: Can take 7-10 business days - Holiday weeks: Add 1 extra business day These timeframes have been pretty consistent this year, but can vary during high volume periods.
