EDD payment timeline after certifying - normal wait times?
I certified for my weekly benefits this past Sunday and still haven't received my payment on my Money Network card. My claim status says 'paid' in the UI Online portal but nothing has hit my account yet. Is this normal? How long does it usually take for funds to appear after certification? I'm starting to get worried because my rent is due next week and I'm cutting it really close this month. This is my first time on unemployment so I don't know what to expect time-wise.

If your claim status already shows 'paid' then you should receive your funds within 24-48 hours on your Money Network card. Sometimes it can take up to 3 business days, but rarely longer than that. Since you certified on Sunday, you should definitely have it by Wednesday. If not, there might be an issue with your card or account that needs resolving.

•Thanks for the info! Today's Wednesday and still nothing. Should I call EDD or Money Network first? Really stressing about making rent now...

•Yes, I activated the card when I got it about 3 weeks ago. I even called the number on the back to check the balance yesterday and it showed $0.00. So confused why it's taking so long when my UI Online shows 'paid'!

This happened to me last month. My UI Online showed "PAID" but nothing went to my Money Network for over a week!!! I was FREAKING OUT thinking someone stole my money somehow. Turns out there was a hold on my card I didn't know about. YOU NEED TO CALL MONEY NETWORK DIRECTLY at the number on your card!!! Don't waste time with EDD because it's a Money Network issue not an EDD issue!

•Thanks for sharing your experience. Did Money Network give you a reason for the hold? I'm going to call them today for sure.

•They said something about "unusual activity" which was BS because I hadn't even USED the card yet!!! But they fixed it right away once I called. Good luck!

Standard processing time for EDD payments is 24-48 hours after showing 'paid' in the system, excluding weekends and holidays. Since you certified on Sunday, the payment would have processed Monday, and should have hit your Money Network card by Tuesday or Wednesday at the latest. Possible issues to check: 1. Verify your Money Network card is properly activated 2. Check if there are any identity verification holds on your account 3. Confirm your address information is current for both EDD and Money Network 4. Make sure you don't have any outstanding certifications or quarterly forms If your UI Online shows 'paid' but your card doesn't reflect the funds after 3 business days, you should definitely contact both EDD and Money Network to resolve the issue.

•Thank you for the detailed response. I double-checked everything you mentioned and it all seems correct. My Money Network card is activated, my address is current, and I don't have any pending forms to complete. I'll try calling both tomorrow.

This happens sometimes. I've been on unemployment twice and payments are usually pretty quick but occasionally they can take longer for no apparent reason. Don't panic yet!

I had this exact problem last month and spent DAYS trying to get through to EDD on their regular number. After 50+ calls and getting disconnected each time, I finally found Claimyr (claimyr.com) which got me connected to an EDD agent in about 20 minutes. They have a video demo showing how it works: https://youtu.be/JmuwXR7HA10?si=TSwYbu_GOwYzt9km The agent explained that sometimes there's a disconnect between the EDD payment system and Money Network's processing, and they had to manually release my payment. Once they did that, the money showed up on my card within hours. Definitely worth getting through to an actual person instead of just waiting and hoping.

•Thank you so much for sharing this! I've been trying to call EDD all day and just keep getting the 'we're experiencing high call volume' message. I'll check out that service you mentioned - at this point I just need to talk to someone who can help before my rent is due.

I'm going thru something kinda similar but my payment is stuck on pending not paid. Been waiting for like 2 weeks now. EDD system is so broken I swear.

•Pending for two weeks is a different issue than what the original poster is experiencing. You likely have an eligibility issue that needs to be resolved. You should check your UI Online account for notifications about required documents or interviews, and definitely try to speak with an EDD representative as soon as possible.

UPDATE: I finally got this resolved! Used Claimyr to reach an EDD rep who confirmed there was a payment delay between EDD and Money Network. They manually released the payment and it showed up on my card within 3 hours. Thanks everyone for your help!

•Glad you got it fixed! For future reference, the normal timeline is: - Certify on Sunday - System processes and shows 'paid' by Monday afternoon - Money appears on Money Network card by Tuesday evening If it ever takes longer than that again, don't wait - call right away because something's wrong.
