My unemployment payment is late from NYS Department of Labor - anyone else having delays?
I certified my weekly claim on Monday like I always do but my unemployment payment still hasn't hit my bank account. It's been 4 days now and usually I get it by Wednesday morning. I checked my.ny.gov and it shows my claim was processed successfully. Has anyone else been experiencing delays with their payments lately? I'm starting to worry something went wrong with my direct deposit info or there's some kind of hold on my account that I don't know about.

Check your payment history on the NYS Department of Labor website first. Sometimes there's a processing delay that shows up there before it hits your bank. Also make sure your banking info is still correct in your profile - if your bank changed routing numbers or something that could cause a delay.

•Good idea, I'll check the payment history section. I haven't changed banks or anything so that shouldn't be the issue.

•That's somewhat reassuring. Did you do anything special or just wait it out?

If your claim shows as processed successfully on my.ny.gov but the payment is delayed, it's usually a banking issue rather than a NYS Department of Labor issue. However, if this continues beyond a week, you should contact them to verify there's no adjudication or eligibility review that got triggered. Sometimes a routine review can cause payment delays without showing up immediately in your account status.

•I didn't know routine reviews could cause delays without warning. How would I know if that's what's happening?

•Check for any correspondence in your my.ny.gov inbox. If there's a review, they usually send a notice even if it doesn't show on your main claim status page.

The NYS Department of Labor phone system is absolutely useless for getting real answers about payment delays. I spent hours trying to get through last month when my payment was late. If you really need to talk to someone, I found this service called Claimyr at claimyr.com that actually got me connected to a real agent. They have a demo video at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me so much frustration compared to trying to call myself.

•How much does something like that cost? I'm already stressed about money with the late payment.

•I don't remember the exact cost but it was worth it to actually get answers instead of being on hold for hours or getting disconnected.

OH NO this is exactly what I'm worried about happening to me! I just filed my first claim last week and now I'm panicking that payments are going to be unreliable. How am I supposed to budget if I can't count on when the money will actually arrive?? Did you guys have to do anything special with your bank or is this just random?

•Don't panic! Payment delays happen occasionally but they're not the norm. Most weeks payments come through on schedule.

Update us when you get it! I'm curious if this is a wider issue.
