NYS Department of Labor unemployment taking so long to deposit - anyone else having payment delays?

My weekly unemployment benefits from NYS Department of Labor have been taking way longer than usual to deposit into my account. Usually they show up on Wednesdays but this week it's Friday and still nothing. I certified my weekly claim on Sunday like always and it shows as processed on the my.ny.gov portal. Bank says they haven't received anything yet. Is anyone else experiencing delays with their unemployment payments depositing? Getting really stressed because rent is due Monday.

Check your payment history on the my.ny.gov portal to see if the payment was actually released by NYS Department of Labor. Sometimes there's a delay between when it shows 'processed' and when it's actually sent to your bank. Also verify your direct deposit info hasn't changed.

Just checked and it shows payment released on Tuesday but my bank account is still empty. This is so frustrating.

same thing happened to me last month!! took an extra 3 days for some reason, never got an explanation from anyone

There could be several reasons for delayed deposits: bank processing delays, NYS Department of Labor system updates, or issues with your direct deposit information. If your payment shows as released but hasn't arrived after 3-5 business days, you should contact both your bank and NYS Department of Labor. You can also request a debit card for future payments which sometimes processes faster than direct deposit.

How do I even get through to NYS Department of Labor? I've been calling for hours and just get busy signals or disconnected.

I had the same problem reaching NYS Department of Labor agents until I found claimyr.com - they have this service that gets you through to an actual person. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI showing how it works. Saved me hours of trying to call myself when my payments got stuck in some kind of review.

The whole NYS Department of Labor system is a mess right now. They keep doing 'maintenance' that screws everything up. My cousin had to wait 2 weeks for her payment because of some glitch they couldn't explain. Meanwhile we got bills to pay and they act like it's no big deal!!

Mine usually comes Thursday mornings but this week it was delayed until Friday afternoon. Might just be a random processing delay on their end.

I'm dealing with the exact same issue right now! My payment usually hits my account every Wednesday like clockwork, but this week it's been radio silence. Called my bank twice and they confirmed nothing's pending. Really hoping this gets sorted out soon because I've got bills stacking up. Has anyone tried reaching out through the my.ny.gov message center instead of calling? Wondering if that might be faster than trying to get through on the phone lines.

I tried the message center on my.ny.gov a few weeks ago when I had a similar issue and it actually worked better than calling! Got a response within 2 business days versus spending hours on hold. They were able to see that my payment was stuck in some kind of verification queue and pushed it through. Definitely worth trying - just make sure to include your claim number and describe exactly what you're seeing in your payment history.

I'm having the exact same problem! My payment usually deposits on Wednesday mornings but it's now Friday evening and still nothing. I certified on Sunday and it shows as processed on the portal, but my bank account is still empty. This is really stressing me out because I have rent due this weekend. I've tried calling the NYS Department of Labor multiple times today but keep getting busy signals. Has anyone had any luck getting through to them recently, or found any other way to get this resolved quickly?

@Sofia Hernandez I m'in the exact same boat! My payment was supposed to hit Wednesday and it s'now Friday night with nothing. I also certified Sunday and it shows processed. I saw someone mention earlier that the message center on my.ny.gov might be faster than calling - maybe try that? Also @Sean Murphy mentioned they got a response in 2 business days that way when their payment got stuck in verification. It s so'frustrating when we re all'depending on these payments and they just randomly get delayed with no explanation!

I'm going through this exact same nightmare right now! My payment was supposed to deposit Wednesday and it's now Friday with absolutely nothing. What's really frustrating is that I can see in my payment history that it shows "released" on Tuesday, but my bank says they haven't received anything. I've been trying to call NYS Department of Labor all day but it's impossible to get through - just constant busy signals. This is so stressful when you're counting on that money for basic expenses. Has anyone had success with disputing these delays or getting any kind of explanation from them about what's causing these processing issues?

@Luca Esposito I m'dealing with the exact same situation! Payment shows released "Tuesday" but still nothing in my account by Friday evening. I ve'been reading through this thread and it seems like this is happening to a bunch of people this week. @Dylan Mitchell mentioned using claimyr.com to actually get through to a real person at NYS Department of Labor - might be worth trying since the phone lines are completely jammed. Also @Sean Murphy had success with the my.ny.gov message center getting a response in 2 days when their payment got stuck. It s ridiculous that'we all have to jump through these hoops when the system shows everything as processed but our "money" is just floating somewhere in digital limbo!

I'm new to this community but unfortunately not new to this problem! Just started collecting unemployment benefits last month and already dealing with payment delays. My deposit was supposed to come Wednesday but it's Friday night and still nothing. The my.ny.gov portal shows "processed" but my bank account is empty. It's really reassuring to see I'm not alone in this - I was starting to think I messed something up on my end. Going to try the message center approach that @Sean Murphy mentioned since calling seems impossible. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, it helps to know this is a system-wide issue and not just me!

@Isabella Martin Welcome to the community! Sorry you re'dealing with this right from the start - definitely not the best introduction to the NYS unemployment system. You re'absolutely right that this seems to be a widespread issue this week based on everyone s'comments here. I d'definitely recommend trying the message center on my.ny.gov like @Sean Murphy suggested since so many people are having luck with that route over calling. Also keep checking your payment history to see if yours shows released like "some" others have mentioned - that at least confirms it s on'the way even if delayed. Hopefully this gets sorted out quickly for all of us!

This is happening to way too many people this week! I'm also stuck in the same situation - certified Sunday, shows processed on the portal, payment history says "released" Wednesday, but my bank account is still empty going into the weekend. I've been on unemployment for about 6 months and this is the first time I've had such a significant delay. Usually if there's any delay it's just a day, not 3+ days like this. Really hoping the NYS Department of Labor gets their act together because so many of us depend on these payments arriving on schedule. Going to try the my.ny.gov message center approach since calling seems to be a waste of time. Fingers crossed we all see our payments early next week!

@GalacticGuardian This is exactly what I'm experiencing too! I've been on unemployment for about 4 months and this is definitely the worst delay I've seen. What's really concerning is that so many people are reporting the exact same timeline - certified Sunday, shows processed, payment history says "released" Wednesday, but nothing in our accounts by Friday. It makes me wonder if there's some kind of system-wide processing issue at NYS Department of Labor that they're not telling us about. I'm also going to try the message center approach since everyone seems to be having better luck with that than the phone lines. Hopefully we all get answers and our payments early next week because this level of uncertainty is really stressful when you're already dealing with unemployment!

I certified on Sunday as usual and the portal shows everything as processed, but my bank confirmed they haven't received anything. What's really frustrating is that I can see in my payment history that it shows "released" on Tuesday, so where is my money? I've been trying to call NYS Department of Labor all day but keep getting busy signals or dropped calls. This is incredibly stressful since I have bills due this weekend and was counting on that deposit. Based on all the comments here, it seems like this is a widespread problem this week - has anyone heard anything official from NYS Department of Labor about what's causing these delays?

@Hugo Kass I m'in the exact same situation! This is my first time experiencing such a significant delay and it s'really concerning. Like you, my payment shows released "in" the system but nothing has hit my bank account. From reading through all these comments, it seems like there s'definitely a system-wide issue affecting a lot of us this week. I haven t'seen any official communication from NYS Department of Labor about what s'causing this, which is frustrating. Based on what others have shared, I m'going to try the my.ny.gov message center since @Sean Murphy and others had better luck getting responses that way compared to the phone lines. Hopefully we all get some answers and our payments resolve early next week - this kind of uncertainty is the last thing we need when dealing with unemployment!

This is my first time experiencing such a long delay - usually if there's any delay it's just a day or so. It's really stressful because I have rent and utilities due early next week. From reading all these comments it seems like a lot of people are having the same problem this week. Has anyone tried contacting their bank to see if there are any pending transfers that might be held up on their end? I'm wondering if this could be a banking system issue rather than just NYS Department of Labor.

@Grant Vikers I contacted my bank yesterday and they confirmed there are no pending transfers on their end - the payment simply hasn t'been sent from NYS Department of Labor despite showing as released "in" the system. It s'definitely not a banking issue based on what my bank told me. This seems to be a processing problem on NYS Department of Labor s'side affecting a bunch of us this week. I m'going to try the my.ny.gov message center approach that @Sean Murphy mentioned since calling has been impossible. Really hoping we all get this sorted out because the stress of not knowing when our payments will actually arrive is awful when we re already'dealing with unemployment!
