Will unemployment checks be late this week - NYS Department of Labor payment schedule concerns

I usually get my unemployment payment on Tuesday but haven't seen anything in my account yet and it's already Wednesday afternoon. Is anyone else experiencing delays with their NYS Department of Labor payments this week? I'm getting worried because I have rent due Friday and I'm counting on this money. My weekly claim certification went through fine on Sunday like always but the payment just isn't showing up. Should I be concerned or is this normal?

same here! my payment is usually deposited tuesday morning but nothing yet. starting to panic a bit

At least I'm not the only one. This is really stressing me out because all my bills are due this week.

NYS Department of Labor payments can sometimes be delayed by a day or two due to banking processing times, especially if there's a federal holiday in the same week. Check your my.ny.gov account to make sure your payment status shows as 'issued' rather than 'pending.' If it shows issued, the delay is likely on the banking side and should appear within 1-2 business days.

Just checked and it does say 'issued' so I guess it's just a banking delay. Thanks for the tip about checking the status!

THE NYS DEPARTMENT OF LABOR SYSTEM IS ALWAYS MESSING UP PAYMENTS!! This happened to me last month and I had to wait almost a week. They never give any advance notice when there's gonna be delays. It's like they don't understand people depend on this money to survive!

I feel your frustration but getting angry doesn't help solve the immediate problem. Have you tried calling them about the delay?

If you're having trouble reaching someone at NYS Department of Labor about payment delays, I recently found out about this service called Claimyr that helps you get through to agents faster. Check out claimyr.com - they have a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. I used it last week when I couldn't get through about my adjudication issue and actually got connected to someone who could help.

Never heard of that before. Does it actually work or is it just another scam?

It's legit - they don't ask for your personal info or anything sketchy. Just helps you navigate their phone system better.

Thanks for the update @CaptainAwesome! That's reassuring to hear. I'm still waiting on mine but feeling a bit less anxious knowing others are starting to receive their delayed payments. For anyone else still waiting, it might be worth setting up text alerts through your bank if you haven't already - that way you'll know immediately when it hits your account instead of constantly checking.
