NY unemployment says I filed a claim on 6/15 but nothing shows up & haven't been paid

Just need someone to help me figure out what's going on. I filed my weekly ny unemployment claim on 6/15 (almost 3 weeks ago), and when I log into my account it says I claimed benefits for that week. But when I check my payment history, there's absolutely nothing showing up for that week. No pending payment, no processing status, literally nothing. I've been getting benefits normally for the past 4 months with no issues. Then for the July 4th week claim, the system says I successfully filed online, but again - zero record of it in my payment history. I've tried calling the unemployment office like 40+ times but can't get through to a real person. It's been almost a month now with no money coming in and I'm starting to panic about paying rent. Anyone else experiencing this weird glitch where claims are registered but not actually processing?

StarSailor

Had the same issue last month. The only way I fixed it was by finally reaching an agent. I used this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) and got a callback with an actual person in like 45 minutes. Told them about my missing payments and they fixed it while I was on the phone. Best money I've spent in months since it got my benefits flowing again. They have a how-to video here: https://youtu.be/Rdqa1gKtxuE

Does this actually work? I've been trying to call for 2 weeks with no luck

Yeah it does! I was super skeptical too but I was desperate. They keep calling for you and then connect you when someone answers. The unemployment lady who answered was actually surprised I got through 😂

wait how does this work? they just keep calling for you?

Basically they have some system that auto-dials and navigates the phone tree, then when a human finally picks up, it forwards the call to your phone. So you don't have to sit there hitting redial for hours.

hmm I've been burned by so many of these 'services' before... what makes this different?

The difference is it actually works lol. My benefits were stuck for 3 weeks, used Claimyr, talked to someone that same day, and had my money deposited 2 days later. Not pushing it on anyone, just sharing what worked for me 🤷‍♀️

Ugh the NY unemployment system is such a nightmare rn. I was in this EXACT situation in May. Try checking your email too - sometimes they send notices about claim issues that don't show up in the portal. Mine ended up being that they randomly flagged my account for "identity verification" and I had to upload documents.

Thanks for the tip! Just checked my email and spam folder but nothing from them. I haven't gotten any messages in my account inbox either. It's like the claim just vanished into thin air 😫

Classic NYSDOL... ghost mode activated 👻 Keep calling, eventually someone will pick up (took me like 70+ calls). Or try reaching out on Twitter - sometimes they respond faster there.

This happened to me too! It's actually a system glitch that's been happening alot lately. The system is recording that you certified but not processing the payment. I talked to a rep and they said its affecting hundreds of people and they're working on fixing it, but each account has to be manually fixed. You HAVE to talk to a rep to get this resolved. They need to manually release your payment. Keep calling until you get through. I know it's frustrating but don't give up, your money is still there waiting for you! I finally reached someone after trying for a week straight. I'd recommend trying right when they open at 8am. That's when I finally got through. The rep was actually super helpful once I explained the issue - she could see I had certified but the payment was stuck in their system.

Sounds like your account is under review but they didn't bother to tell you 🙄 classic ny unemployment move. They did this to me for THREE MONTHS during the pandemic. Keep certifying every week even though its not paying out. When they finally fix it, they'll pay all the back weeks at once. But you HAVE to keep certifying.

I'll definitely keep certifying. That sucks they did that to you for 3 months! I'm hoping mine won't take that long to resolve

Log out and log back in, then try checking your payment history again. Sometimes the system is just buggy and needs a refresh. also try clearing your browser cache or using a different browser entirely. The unemployment website is literally running on technology from the 90s.

Tried that multiple times 😞 Even tried on my phone, laptop, and my roommate's computer. Same result every time.

dang, worth a shot. the only other thing that worked for me was the old "call 600 times until someone answers" technique 📞

OMG IM HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE RIGHT NOW!!!! It's so frustrating!! I'm missing three weeks of payments that the system says I claimed but they're nowhere to be found in payment history. I've been calling like crazy and emailing them but no response. This is actually making me feel a little better knowing I'm not alone in this nightmare.

It's weirdly comforting to know it's not just me. Have you found any solution yet?

not yet 😩 but if I figure it out I'll let you know. I'm gonna try that claimyr thing someone mentioned above tomorrow. I'll let you know if it works!

This is a comprehensive breakdown of the issue and possible solutions based on my experience working with the NY unemployment system for years: What's happening is likely one of three things: 1) Technical glitch where the system records your certification but fails to process it. This happens more often than NYSDOL admits. 2) Your account has a flag or hold for some reason (ID verification, work search requirements, etc.) that you weren't notified about. 3) There's a question about eligibility for those specific weeks that triggered a review. Here's what you need to do, in this order: 1. Document everything. Take screenshots showing you certified but have no payment history. Note dates, times, and confirmation numbers if you have them. 2. Call NYSDOL. Yes, it's nearly impossible to get through, but it's the most direct solution. Use claimyr.com if you're desperate - it saved me weeks of frustration by getting me through to an agent quickly. 3. While waiting to connect with someone, send a detailed message through your online account messaging system. Be specific about dates and include your screenshots. 4. If a week passes with no response, reach out via Twitter @NYSLabor with your issue (don't include personal info). 5. Contact your state representative's office. They often have direct channels to unemployment office liaisons. 6. Keep certifying weekly no matter what! This is critical - if you miss weeks of certification while trying to fix this issue, you'll have even bigger problems. The most likely outcome is that when you finally reach someone, they'll see the error and can release all your payments at once. Don't give up - the money you're entitled to is sitting there waiting for processing.

This is incredibly helpful, thank you so much for the detailed explanation! I'm going to start working through this list today. I've been taking screenshots already so I have those ready.

This should be pinned at the top of the entire NY unemployment subreddit. Sooo helpful.

Checking in to say this approach worked for me last year. The Twitter outreach surprisingly got a response within 24 hours when calls went nowhere.

They put my account on hold too and never told me why. Its total bs how they operate. You basically need to cal them 500 times to get a human who can actually fix it.The whole system is design to discourage people from collecting benefits they deserve imo

The system is 100% designed to make it difficult so people give up. Its the same reason they use that ancient website that looks like it was built in 1997 🤡

Check if you answered any questions differently on that certification compared to your previous ones. One tiny different answer can trigger a review that stops payments without notification.

Have u checked ur bank account directly? Sometimes my payment history doesn't update but the money still shows up in my account.

I wish! I've been checking my bank account obsessively and nothing has come through.

this happened 2 me also!! i finally tried that claimyr service someone mentioned (claimyr.com) and got a real person on the phone in like 30 min. turns out they had flagged my account for "suspicious activity" whatever tf that means but didnt bother to tell me!! agent fixed it right then and i got paid all my backpay 2 days later

yeah right, another 'miracle solution'... what's the catch? 🙄

0 coins

-

the catch is it costs money but after trying to call for 2 weeks and getting nowhere i was desperate. way better than losing weeks of unemployment benefits tho. they just call for u and connect when someone answers

Hmm, actually might try it then. I'm going on 3 weeks no benefits and rent is due 😬

Contact your state assembly person!! Seriously! I had the exact same problem for FIVE WEEKS, couldn't get anyone on the phone. I emailed my assembly person and their office contacted unemployment directly. Had my issue fixed and money in my account within 48 hours.

I saw a news article that NY unemployment had a major system update in June that glitched a ton of claims. They're supposedly working through the backlog. Might explain why your June claim is messed up.

Unemployment is playing games with everyone lately fr fr 😤 My cousin had the same thing happen and he had to threaten to call a lawyer before they fixed it. Stand your ground!

sometimes the website will show that you certified but there was actually an error in the submission. happened to me before. the only way to fix it is calling unfortunately

they did same thing 2 me last year... they never send notifications when they put holds on ur account. u gotta call 2 fix it. i know it sucks but u gotta keep trying. early morning like 8:01am or right after lunch at like 1pm is when i finally got thru

Honestly, 90% of the problems with NY unemployment could be solved if they just had a frickin' system that would actually TELL you when there's a problem with your claim! They just silently stop payments and expect you to guess what's wrong.

THIS THIS THIS!!!! I've been saying this for years! It's like they deliberately hide information from us 🤬

For real. Like they could literally just send an email saying "hey your payment is on hold because XYZ" but nope, we have to call 1000 times to find out.
