Why didn't I get my unemployment payment this week - NYS Department of Labor claim issue
I've been getting my weekly unemployment payments regularly for the past 6 weeks but this week nothing showed up in my account. I filed my weekly claim on Sunday like always and it shows as completed on my.ny.gov but no payment deposited. My claim status still says active and I haven't gotten any messages about issues. Has this happened to anyone else? I'm really stressed because I have rent due tomorrow and was counting on this payment.

Check your payment history on the NYS Department of Labor website first. Sometimes there's a processing delay or your claim might be under review. Look for any pending adjudication notices in your account. Also verify that your direct deposit information hasn't changed.

•Just checked and it shows 'payment processing' instead of the usual 'released' status. What does that mean exactly?

•Did you have to call them or did it resolve automatically? I can't get through on the phone at all.

This usually happens when there's an issue with your job search activities or work search log. The NYS Department of Labor randomly audits claims to verify you're meeting the work search requirements. Check if you have any messages in your account about submitting documentation.

•I've been keeping track of my job searches but maybe I missed something in the system. Should I try uploading my records now or wait?

If you really need to talk to someone at NYS Department of Labor about your payment delay, I had luck using this service called Claimyr (claimyr.com) when I couldn't get through on the phone. They basically call for you and get you connected to an actual person. There's a video demo at https://youtu.be/qyftW-mnTNI that shows how it works. Saved me days of trying to call myself.

•Thanks, I'll check that out. At this point I'm willing to try anything to get answers about my missing payment.

The NYS Department of Labor system is such a mess right now. They hold up payments for the stupidest reasons and never explain anything clearly. I've been dealing with payment delays for months and they just keep saying 'under review' with no timeline.

Hope you get it sorted out soon! Missing even one payment is so stressful when you're already dealing with unemployment.

I went through something similar last year. When payments show "processing" instead of "released," it usually means they're doing a routine review or audit. In my case, it was because I had reported some part-time work income a few weeks earlier and they needed to verify the amounts. The good news is that once it's resolved, you'll get all the back payments. Try logging into your account and look under "Messages" or "Correspondence" - sometimes they send notices there that don't trigger email alerts. Also check if there's a "Pending Issues" section that might give you more details about what's holding up your payment.
